Honduras to pull troops from Iraq (Bush Scolds Spain ...) | The Guardian
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush scolded Spain's new prime minister Monday for his abrupt withdrawal of troops from Iraq and told him to avoid actions that give ``false comfort to terrorists or enemies of freedom in Iraq.''

No country stepped forward immediately to take the place of Spain, which ranked sixth in contributing troops, and U.S. officials braced for a withdrawal of troops from Honduras, as well.

6. local radio guy...
actually very contemptable to bushinc, but this 'the spanish giving terrs what they want' as new pm never 'mentioned' troops/iraq until after bombing horror...this outright lie that the people who overwhelmingly opposed any attack on innocent iraqis were frightened into electing an appeaser!
on and on and on they go...if you correct the record one place, the lying bastards use some fiction to fortify bush for his hare brained supporters next issue over.

9. "Never 'mentioned' troops/iraq until after bombing"?????
WOW, this is SO wrong it isn't even funny. Zapatero has been harping about Aznar's government joining the war since BEFORE the war began!

11. afraid of 'islamofascists'
it seems the boogeyman of muslim extremeism has enough sting to justify lil ole white lies such as this...the importantr thing is islamic terrorism gets fought (thus preserving our lives)...
ever notice the trend toward using international law and world court etc that was invoked, albeit reluctantly, after the bosnia mess, are never mentioned in 'war on terror'...even by the tim dennis's of the talk radio world. the reason: we's outnumbered by 'them'

7. But wouldn't it be a good thing to give terrorists false comfort?
False comfort is an illusion. False comfort is what leads people to get sloppy and make mistakes or overreach. Giving false comfort to the enemy has to be a good thing, right?

Oh well, just * mangling the language again.

10. Imagine that: a leader who respected the wishes of his people.
"... the United States recognized the right of the new Socialist government to respond to public wishes and to carry out a campaign pledge."

And wasn't it nice of the Bush Administration to "recognize" that "right?"

12. What...no "Thank You"?
What a jackass we have for pResident. You'd think this guy would be a little more diplomatic and say something like we appreciate the sacrifice and support Spain has provided to the coalition, you did a great job etc. Any politician worth his salt is gracious in defeat. To any Spaniards on DU thanks for your help and your sacrifice and please except my apology for having this jerk get you into this mess. I hope the rest of the world will see how shrub treats its "friends".

15. It's a curious fluke of history that so many of Bush's allies...
were also Hitler's allies; and most of them had about as much enthusiasm for the German war as they do for this one:

Bulgaria
Hungary
Italy
Japan
Spain
Romania
Slovak Republic
Ukraine (not officially an ally but many Ukrainians collaborated with or fought for Germany)

18. This is what it sounds like ... when chimps cry.
President Bush scolded Spain's new prime minister Monday for his abrupt withdrawal of troops from Iraq and told him to avoid actions that give ``false comfort to terrorists or enemies of freedom in Iraq.''

I would just about pay to hear Zapatero go on the record with: "That was precisely the reasoning I used in deciding not to aid American forces anymore."

I just wish more people would quit giving comfort to enemies of freedom in America -- like, voting them into office, for instance.

This will shatter the 'Coalition'! :eyes:

Hey I have a question for To Stupid To Be President - what if some countries just WANT TO PULL THEIR TROOPS OUT because THEY DON'T WANT THEM TO DIE? Is that okay? HUH (fuckingassholegeorgebushscumbag).
