Support is growing for sending more troops to Iraq
Obviously, parallel universes *do* exist:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-04-20-cover-poll_x.htm

The president "is a man of his word. He's being truthful. We can't just pull back out. We're doing the right thing by extending the stay of some of the troops," says Patti Scott, 36, an investment saleswoman from Loveland, Colo., lounging with friends beneath a 30-foot flagpole that flies the Stars and Stripes above a banner of a martini glass.

Rob Lomax, 33, a computer systems administrator, sits across from Scott. He argues that American troops won't leave Iraq for years: "We're turning it over on June 30? That's B.S. To do it realistically is going to take way longer than we were told."

Scott fires back: "But we're giving them a chance to work it out. "

Lomax persists: "The whole reason for going in is irrelevant now."

4. The DOD site makes me sick though.
Rather not link to it if I don't have to, especially if I have to keep checking it to update my counter. Less I have to look at it the better. If you've got another more accurate link, I'd appreciate it.

*Sigh* So much bad news.

31. What the hell does "freedom" mean, anyway?
It, "freedom" is the most ambiguous term in a world controlled by human beings who treat one another as being unequal in some form or another.

I have less "freedom" of movement, of choice, of material gain, of expression, of a future than every single member in the executive branch.

WTF is "freedom"?

Stop throwing around such a loaded, yet empty word,...that word, "freedom".

2. Idiots...
...young enough to sign up. Anyone have their address so we can send them the required paperwork? My suggestion: find the addresses of those that donated $2000 checks to Bush in your neighborhood. Send them sign up sheets for the armed forces and an invoice for your portion of the cost of Bush's Baghdad adventure.

6. Exactly...
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 04:47 AM by w13rd0
...the information is public record. If one feels so inclined, one could even include a letter, maybe some copies of letters from soldiers or families of soldiers, pictures from the front about the horrors of war. Many of these people sign their name to these $2000 checks not giving a care in the world to the consequences of their actions. Make it personal. They need to know that their complicity with these acts is part of the public record.

Like in my zip code, there's only one donation for GWB, and it's a max contribution ($2000). So I'm going to probably have to do some queries for zip codes of my place of business and such. What's funny is this guy is a known asshat. Consider that less than 2% of the population contributes, and with such substantial amounts, changing just one or two minds can have an impact on Georgies bottom line.

13. One of the AAR hosts mentioned the daily
cost of the Iraq war to every man, woman and child in America is about $9.00 each and every day. If folks had to "pay up" at the end of the week for instance, this war would be over by the end of the month.

15. You forgot the adjective "Mindless" to go w/ idiots
These assholes are beneath contempt.

They are SHEEP marching to the cadence of corporate orders.

I loath mindless scum like this.

For religious reasons I won't wish their friends and relatives get sent there to die, but I come awfully close to wishing something bad opens their glazed over eyes.

give their information to the local recruiting people, who will be more than happy to spam the shit out of them. I can't wait until my son is 17 and the recruiters start calling, so I can tell them off.

8. To me the lesser of the two evils is pull them out.
You can not win a war when the people make up mind you will not win, we will have civil war in Iraq what ever we do and you can not put it back as it was and let the people get rid of Saddam in their own good time. We all, on this site, seemed to know we could not win but still one has to face the fact that we can not force out way of life on the world. I am not sure that the War Party (New GOP) will see that. They have the power. If they looked at the world they would see people just do not wish to be ruled by others. All in Europe seem to have learned that, so why can't we? Or the War party see it.

12. Everyone who is interviewed or polled about sending more troops
should also be asked these questions:

1) Are you likely to vote Democratic or Republican in the next election?

2) Do you have any sons or nephews that are at draftable age?

I'm sick of these push polls.

19. They can have fun, I'm not going
Nor will anybody succeed in spewing the bullshit lie that the soldiers in Iraq are "fighting for our freedom". While their bravery is not to be questioned, they are not fighting for our freedom. They are fighting for a lie and war profiteers. I blame the politicians and fools like the people in this article for that, not the soldiers.

Yeah, and we can start with the sons of card-carrying Republicans.
