Scott clears the way for Kaine
Source: Politico

Rep. Bobby Scott has decided against a Senate run in Virginia, removing the likely last looming obstacle from Tim Kaine's pathway to the Democratic nomination.

The announcement came at a Labor Day picnic in Newport News.

Scott, who is African-American, will seek an 11th term in the House and is backing Kaine. But he says his decision, of course, has nothing to do with his own electability.

Today, Scott made it official that he would not run for the Senate, but in a statement still contends that he could beat Kaine.

2. Rep. Bobby Scott is a good democrat.
He does a great job right where he is. We need people like Mr. Scott in the house who don't put up with the Rabid Right's stale old bullshit!

3. I would have preferred Scott. Maybe he will run for

5. Kaine is not my first choice. Though he is in a strong position
to keep that neo-confederate garbage out of the US Senate.
