Petraeus takes over CIA
Source: Poughkeepsie Journal

WASHINGTON — David Petraeus, the newly retired general with the megawatt media profile, was sworn in today as CIA director, leaving behind his uniform and his military brain trust.

Retired last week after 37 years in the Army, Petraeus was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden, as the 20th director of the so-called silent service in a ceremony at the White House today.

"You led and trained the 9/11 generation to become the greatest group of warriors this country has ever seen," Biden said of Petraeus. "You've excelled in every single thing you've done."

Despite the warm welcome, silent is what some in the White House want the well-connected former four-star general to remain, said two current and one former U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive discussions at the National Security Council.

24. well, it seems that Little Boots already purged the CIA
of those who didn't do the loyal thing. And, remember Little boots with rumsfeld got rid of those generals who had the cajones to speak the truth. Patreaus is one of theirs. Nothing to see here folks, just move along. Just more retreads.

2. Not too many people really alarm me. But, David Petraeus does.
He oozes ambition of a very old sort. Like something out of Roman history. Another American Caesar, the last one was relieved on an airstrip in Korea. But this time may be more welcoming to a man on horseback who crosses a river and puts the sword to a rotten, tottering Republic.

Capable man, General Petraeus. Capable of just about anything, I sense. An Emperor, if we let him.

19. I agree completely.
The times that are coming for America and the world will be the perfect incubator for hard men with Imperial ambitions. Petraeus is the next stop doen the road we all know America is traveling.

26. the greatest warrior this country has ever seen
was Gen. Smedley Butler. You are totally wrong Mr. Biden. A man with honor, bravery and honesty. He was too honest for the likes of those on the hill.

7. We will long regret this bipartisan nomination by Obama.
Remember when he called that presser to announce he'd found the weapons of mass destruction?

Despite naive White House hopes to the contrary, Petraeus is not going to keep his mouth shut.

20. If Petraeus makes it to the WH, America will have its very own Putin.
A world with Petraeus and Putin in charge of opposing power blocs is a decidedly unhappy prospect.

27. Petraeus could easily run for POTUS in 2016.
If the world's economic shit has truly hit the fan by then, Petraeus will be the "hard man with strong medicine" that the power elite has been preparing the soil for. He could easily be the American Caesar.

28. Did they pick him for his Roman-sounding last name?
Points to their casting department for the sense of humor. The current occupant of the white House was a rather inspired choice too.
I can tell that those selectors just love their job.
