Mexicans Polled say Vote Against Cuba Influenced by U.S.
Edited on Tue Apr-20-04 10:22 AM by guajira
Although Mexico's government voted to censure Cuba for human rights violations, a poll shows Mexican citizens seem well-informed about the true reason for the vote!

snippet:
Mexico's key U.N. vote against Cuba's human rights record may have created resentment here against the United States, according to a poll published Monday.

In the poll sponsored by the newspaper Milenio, 80 percent of those questioned said U.S. pressure led to Mexico's April 15 vote at the U.N. Human Rights Commission in Geneva. Twenty percent said the vote was due to the Mexican government's concern for human rights in Cuba.

1. The people know
and it will be more and more difficult to not understand and see through the developing transparency of the manuevers and manipulations of the world leaders. Keep sharing.

2. They Know Because they are Free to go there!
Mexicans regularly fly to Cuba for vacations and for business. They also come to the US, so they know the difference!

If we Americans were allowed to travel to Cuba, we would be better informed also. Unfortunately we are treated like mushrooms by our government - kept in the dark and fed shit!!!

3. A classic!
Don't blame Mexico for their vote. Blame the U.S.!!!!

This is truly silly.

4. You missed the Point!!
The Mexican citizens who were polled were not able to vote, only the Mexican government voted against Cuba.

The point of the poll was to find out if Mexicans agreed with their government, and they didn't!!

People who have been to Cuba know that what we in the US are told by our government is not true. When was the last time you were in Cuba?

5. Sometimes it's necessary to explain the profoundly obvious!
Very interesting article, guajira.

It's interesting, too, that after applying the customary pressure to Honduras to sponsor the claim at the U.N., apparently believing if WE sponsored it, it would be far too obvious(!!!!), our State Department was able to stand back and watch, with shock and awe as Honduras decided to withdraw its troops from Iraq.

I think it's GREAT someone went to the trouble to ask the Mexican public how they think it happened that Mexico joined Honduras in that vote.
