SAN DIEGO — A major power failure hit a large part of Southern California on Thursday, including San Diego, the nation's eighth-largest city.

The problem extended from San Clemente, Calif., in southern Orange County south to Mexico's Baja peninsula and east to Yuma, Ariz. It cut electricity to millions of people, including 1.4 million in San Diego.

2. Us on the west coast don't count as far as media goes
The media is probably more concern with possible 4.0 Earthquakes on the East Coast.

6. So, the power on the west coast has been out for less than 8 hours.
When hurricane Ike came to Texas we were without electricity for almost TWO WEEKS.
I betcha the power will be on soon in CA and AZ.

Anything less than a day or two is very manageable.

7. What a perfect exclamation point to Obama's speech
saying we need to put people to work repairing and upgrading the infrastructure.

Tinfoil hatters on the far right will undoubtedly see a conspiracy.

8. this whole region should run on solar power
Depending on King Cong (coal, oil, nuclear, gas) is absurd when you're in a sunny locale.
