Hurricane Katia heading for Irish and Scottish coasts
Source: Metro

The sheer force of Hurricane Katia may hit western Ireland and north-west Scotland next Monday and Tuesday, US forecasters predict.

Winds of up to 90mph could cause a risk to shipping off the west coast of Ireland on Monday.

Katia will then reach Scotland and the Orkney Islands by Tuesday, according to the US National Hurricane Center in Miami.

Forecasters expect little change in its strength as the Gulf Stream propels the storm across the Atlantic.

It's actually forecast to be a tropical storm by then, still a big deal given the location...

3. Does this mean it's going to stop raining here in the midwest? I feel like I
need to start looking for plans for an ark, it's rained so much. I was told that it's because Katia wasn't letting Lee move on, so now maybe........:woohoo:

7. Gulf Stream
The gulf stream goes up the east coast across Grennland and then down through Scotland England and Ireland. The water is warm enough at this time of year to support a tropical storm. I have family that lives on the West Coast of Ireland so I hope they will be all right.
