Insurers sue Saudi Arabia seeking 9/11 reimbursements
Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A subsidiary of the British insurer Lloyd's of London Thursday sued the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, several of its government agencies and banks, and a handful of prominent individuals in U.S. District Court in Johnstown, saying they are liable for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Lloyd's Syndicate 3500 and affiliates paid out $215 million in insurance claims stemming from the attacks, according to the complaint. They want the money back.

The 154-page complaint summarizes scholarship on the roots of the al-Qaida organization, focusing on the financing it used to build a global network capable of carrying out actions.

-----

U.S. investigators, it said, unearthed a list of al-Qaida's financial backers known as the "Golden Chain."

Be interesting if this goes to trial.

1. It would probably get settled out of court to avoid damning information
from getting out, I would suspect.

2. So, Lloyd's believes Saudi Arabia is responsible for the 9/11 attacks?
Why did we invade Iraq, then?

Why are we not bombing the hell of Saudi Arabia?

Bush and Cheney and the Saudis need to be arrested and tried for murder...

4. I'm wondering the same thing,
the hijackers were 9 Saudis, 1 Egyptian, 2 UAE citizens, 1 Lebanese. So we spend 1 trillion dollars invading a country that had nothing to do with it and expand that to another country and spend another gazillion dollars and then we begin attacking Pakistan and we're supposed to believe it's all related to 9/11/2001. Meanwhile, we've pissed off the next 3 generations of Arabian men by killing their families.

Now that the 9/11 palooza is upon us, no one remembers Sybil Edmonds or Lt. Col Karen Kwaitowski.

17. Terrorists were originally a threat to the Saudi Royals....

one explanation has it that Al Qaeda was funded in order to shift the attention away from the House of Saud toward America as a target. Recall too that Saddam was a threat to Kuwait.

9. Does anyone remember the story
About someone shorting the airlines - and I think JP Morgan Chase too, the very day of the attack....and supposedly, investigators were going to get to the bottom of it.....and the story evaporated....

Now we know who it went to - and why it was clammed up. (Bush wanted to go to Iraq - certainly not invade his beloved Saudi's)

There was allot of talk back then that it was the Saudi's all along....and those guys were called conspiracy nutcases.

Read the PDF - it names who is in the "Golden Chain".

Ohhhhhh - I did not think my level of disgust for Bush and the GOP could go up any further....and there it went.

Doesn't anyone else remember that?
the anthrax attacks?
the complete ineptitude of the government such that even FOX was saying maybe November was a mistake?

am I alone in my recollection?

15. Hundreds of times the average number of 'puts' were placed on
UAL, and AA in the days before the attacks. There is virtually no doubt that someone knew about the attacks. If I were bin Laden, I'd have given my Wahhabi buddies some 'insider trading' tips. Funny thing is, the SEC went into full discovery mode and then suddenly clammed the hell up with a 'nothing to see here' sign on the door.

At some point, a thinking person has to realize they're standing in the middle of a fish market.

30. if the mafia did a contract killing, would you go after the hitman's landlord or his boss?
Afghanistan was essentially the landlord, and the boss was Saudi directly and via Pakistan.

The question that is still open is whether they did this on the orders of the Bushies or for some agenda of their own.
