Company to Compensate Jews Who Fled Iraq

JERUSALEM - French insurance giant AXA has agreed to compensate three Jews who owned property in Iraq (news - web sites) and fled in the early 1950s, a potential precedent for reparations payments to about 850,000 Jews who left Arab countries, officials said Tuesday.

AXA will pay compensation to the Jews who were forced out of Iraq after the establishment of Israel in 1948, said Justice Ministry spokesman Yaakov Galanti.

AXA spokesman Christophe Dufraux confirmed the compensation agreement with the three Iraqi Jews, but he declined to say how much the settlements were worth.

He said the three had made their claims through the International Commission on Holocaust Era Insurance Claims and that more payments could result if additional claims arise.

3. Right to return?
Or does that only work one way?

4. One company compensating 3 Jews hardly equates
with what the Palestinians are asking for. This is precisely why I do not support right of return. Jews were kicked out of just about every Arab country after 1948 - most with just the clothes on their back and nobody is talking about compensating them (until now).

5. Just imagine all those across this world who have been victimized!
We are talking humanity in every country on the face of the earth who have been victimized by corporations.

From the coal mines of West Virginia to the diamond mines of Africa,
The corporations have used, bloodied and abused,
All men, women and children from two to ninety-two,
*a work in progress* LOL

6. Key to your statement - "...after 1948".
Why after 1948?
