Obama Plants His Flag On Boehner’s Bridge

SUSAN CRABTREE SEPTEMBER 15, 2011, 2:45 PM
President Obama is taking his message about the need to fix the country’s aging infrastructure and create jobs about as close as you can get to Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) district next Thursday. And he’ll have a pretty powerful visual behind him: Cincinnati’s crumbling Brent Spence Bridge.

The bridge spans Cincinnati and northern Kentucky. Obama plans to use the backdrop of the bridge to drive home the point that Congress should pass the American jobs Act in order to secure much-needed investments in infrastructure projects across the country and put more Americans back to work, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Thursday.

The President mentioned the city’s aging bridge in his joint address to Congress last Thursday.

“There’s a bridge that needs repair between Ohio and Kentucky that’s on one of the busiest trucking routes in North America,” Obama said in his speech.

2. Should have been followed by "But Speaker Boehner won't
approve any funding to restore it."

Time to name names. Actually, it was time long ago, but now that time is running out...

8. Sorry, I was reacting to the Repubs not releasing funds for NE but
willing to spend money in their districts IF offset by cuts to Auto bailout.

Didn't mean to sound like I was dissing Obama's location choice.

Another case of TWU
(Typing while upset)

14. Cut him some slack
It is so obvious to me as it should to anyone with half a brain that as stated by Senator Mitch McConnell, his goal is to make Obama a one term President. They appear to be willing to take this country down the tubes to succeed. The only answer is to make sure that we the people prevent this from happening. WE need to vote in anyone who supports Obama's goals and remove those who like Senator McConnell who are trying to ruin this country for their political gains. Obama will never get his Jobs bill passed as indicated by Speaker of the House Boehner. Why isn't the media (obviously not the idiots at Fox) hitting this point harder and why isn't Obama making this point more directly? I do believe that Obama knows the situation and will finally start hitting the GOP harder.
