GOP backing? Oppose split vote (state's split-electoral vote system that awarded Barack Obama a vote

By Robynn Tysver

LINCOLN — Memo to Republican candidates and officeholders in Nebraska: If you want the party's support, you must oppose the state's split-electoral vote system that awarded Barack Obama a historic victory in 2008.

The leadership committee of the Nebraska Republican Party took a hard-line stance Saturday, adopting a resolution that requires all GOP elected officials to favor overturning the electoral law or lose the party's support.

"We should not be embarrassed or ashamed to ask our state senators to support our platform," said Tim O'Dell of Blair.

The resolution did not name names, but it was clearly aimed at State Sen. Paul Schumacher of Columbus. Schumacher, a longtime member of the party's state central committee, opposes changing the electoral law. He bottled up a bill to repeal the measure this year in a legislative committee.

4. All for one electoral votes from states is horribly anti democratic.
When Johnson ran for President Texas switched from an regonal electroal system to an all for one system. So Republican voters were disenfrachised. That helped Johnson get elected.

However, almost immediatly afterward Texas turned Republican and millions of Democratic voting Texans, particularly large segments of voters in Houston and SW Texas have been disenfrachised ever sense.

I lived in Texas from 45 to 06 and never voted for a Republican President and yet my Presidential vote has never really counted. I moved to another of the all for one Republican states for the 08 vote so my vote still was not counted, even though I voted for Obama.

That is not right, and it certainly adds to the disrespect voters have for the election and electoral system and the politicianss who end up in office.

5. Typical of repigs
repigs want a split-vote electoral count in states where they haven't fooled enough fools to gain a majority, but want NON-split-vote electoral count in states where they have got enough sheep/drones/idiots/selfish/traitors to vote for them.

Naturally, as always, what it really boils down to is the same bottom line: repigs hate Democracy; they only love Aristocracy.

8. But, in Pennsy and Cali, they want apportionment. Nothing like standing on your principles,
as they shift constantly.
