John Boehner says ‘no threat’ of a shutdown after spending bill loss
Source: The Washington Post

House Speaker John M. Boehner (R-Ohio) tried to reassure the public Thursday that the government is in no danger of a shutdown, after the surprise defeat in the House Wednesday night of a funding measure to keep agencies running after the fiscal year ends Sept. 30.

Boehner offered no indication of how GOP leaders will amend the measure to capture support from conservatives in his own party who opposed the bill because they believed it did not do enough to cut spending or from Democrats who want to use the short-term funding bill to do more for victims of recent natural disasters.

The speaker calmly told reporters on Thursday that he knew the bill could fail when he brought it to the floor Wednesday and promised the issue will be resolved well before the end of the month.

“There’s no threat of a government shutdown. Let’s just get this out,” Boehner said.

2. Boehner and his teabagger buddies are to be congratulated.
They may have actually pushed the country into a depression. Way to go guys!

3. Good for Boehner.
I'll take "Words I Never Thought I'd Post" for $500, Alex.

I'm beyond tired of having politicians scold me and threaten me.

I did not enact the laws or the regulations that got us into this mess.

Enough.

Shut up and act like adults.
