Source: BBC- Breaking

Unconfirmed reports on Twitter suggested some debris may have fallen over Okotoks, a town south of Calgary in western Canada.

"If debris fell on land (and that's still a BIG if), Canada is most likely area," a Nasa official had tweeted earlier. A later statement on the UARS website read: "The satellite was passing eastward over Canada and Africa as well as vast portions of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans during that period. The precise re-entry time and location are not yet known with certainty."

Nasa has warned members of the public not to touch any pieces of the spacecraft that may survive the re-entry, urging them to contact local law enforcement authorities.

1. RAF Fylingdales tracks falling Nasa satellite
A remote airforce base in the North York Moors is at the forefront of international efforts to track an out-of-control climate satellite which is due to crash to Earth later.

RAF Fylingdales is using its giant radar to track the upper atmosphere research satellite (UARS).

The base, near Whitby, forms part of a worldwide network of powerful radar stations and tracks objects in orbit bigger than 10cm.

The station was originally built at the height of the Cold War to track any incoming ballistic missile attack - a role it still performs.

3. Nasa's UARS satellite plunges over Pacific
Nasa says its six-tonne UARS satellite entered the earth's atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean early on Saturday.

The spacecraft was expected to fall to Earth by about 0500 GMT - officials say it is not possible yet to give a precise time.

The Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) is the largest American space agency satellite to return uncontrolled into the atmosphere in about 30 years.

Officials said the risk to public safety was remote.

4. MSNBC is showing video of strange lights over San Diego......
Edited on Sat Sep-24-11 09:07 AM by Avalux
asking an expert if it's the satellite entering the atmosphere. He said no, San Diego is too far off the trajectory so the strange little balls of light can't be from the satellite.

So what exactly was captured on that video?

5. Night before last while we were walking our grand daughter home
live catty corner/behind us across our yard, and our Grandy says papa did you see that, I said what and she said that bright light going across the sky. Gramma says YES brooklyn I did. Of course I wasn't looking but maybe she seen a part of it streaking past.
A lady in Tulsa, Ok, just west of us 35 miles, was hit on the should by a piece of space junk a few years ago. She wasn't hurt but she did make all the news at the time and an article in yesterdays paper about this said she's been contacted by several of the 'news' shows on tv for an interview.
