Herman Cain wins Florida straw poll
Source: Reuters

Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain won an upset victory in the nonbinding straw poll sponsored by the Republican Party of Florida on Saturday, beating out seven other candidates including front-runner Rick Perry.

More to come, but I understand it wasn't even close, and Cain got 34% of the vote.

Sounds like an extra cheese kind of night.

6. And 999 turned upside down? 666. And the name Cain? It all comes together.
It's all very clear now.

He's going to discount his regularly $9.99 medium pizza down to $6.66 in hopes it will make him president.

What, you thought I would imply something else? Naah. But I will take extra cheese on that.

So a bunch of TeaBaggers hi-jacked the straw poll and voted in their favorite loser.

The more times the Republicans pull a stunt that hurts their side, the more I like it.

9. Ever see the movie, Putney Swope ??
Edited on Sat Sep-24-11 05:59 PM by jaysunb
if not, this is exactly what happened when all the white board menbers voted him Chair thinking no one else would, thus proving they were not particularly a racist.

Putney Swope, the only black man on the executive board of an advertising firm, is accidentally put in charge after the unexpected death of the chairman of the board: each board member actually believed that he, himself, should be elected Chairman, but the bylaws of the corporation prohibit voting for oneself, so each individual member voted his secret ballot for the person that no one else would vote for: Putney Swope.

Renaming the business "Truth and Soul, Inc.", Swope replaces all but one of the white employees and insists they no longer accept business from companies that produce alcohol, war toys, or tobacco. The success of the business draws unwanted attention from the United States Government, which considers it "a threat to the national security."

17. Major WIN for the Democratic Party.
If the Tea Party starts to believe that he will actually be the nominee, they are going to freak out.

But where the WIN comes in is the 9 9 9 plan. Ironically Mr Cain has his numbers right they are just in the WRONG ORDER. 99% of the Country would see their taxes increase while THE ONE percent would see them go down.

"Casino Cain" and his 9 9 9 plan is nothing more than a double down of the same wild Wall St economic policies.

Senior derangement syndrome has claimed the population. Variation on zombie-hood, but without the zombie's famous style, nuance and witty repartee.

No way, a moderate, progressive or simply sane person can get Bagger votes down there.

42. The Pizza lawyer doctor ...fraud. When I was a kid 50+ years ago,
Edited on Sun Sep-25-11 01:22 PM by David Sky
pizza cost $1.00 to $1.75 ... for a big one, picked up at the nearest pizza place.

Now it's 10 times more expensive at the same place. Talk about inflation! My 50" color flat screen stereo TV cost only 5 times as much as the 17 inch small single speaker black and white TV my parents bought when we were buying those pizza's for $1.00.

TV sets have improved, and inflated a bit, (color TV in 1961... about $500) pizza still tastes just about the same!

What has Herman Cain done for pizza, other than make the same pizza ten times as expensive as during Kennedy's time?

43. Pizza companies are not screwing you.
I've worked at one for years. They go out of business all the time. You're not being ripped off.

According to an inflation calculator, a pizza that was $1.50 in 1961 would cost $11.37 in today's dollars. Sounds about right.

Source: http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

The costs of technology have gone gone way down simply because the cost of their physical production has gone way down. The cost for wholesale foods really hasn't.

All that being said, Herman Cain shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office.

Edited on Sun Sep-25-11 02:35 PM by David Sky
HEAVEN!

But, of course, if all those chemicals we now put into the fields of grain to grow the wheat, tomatoe's, grass for grazing those cows for the cheese, onions, garlic, pepperoni from beef, whatever, what the heck...why are we paying oil companies to produce fertilizer for more grain, etc., if the cost of producing the food is going up more than with inflation but the cost of televisions is going DOWN for the same kind of production efficiency?

Oh wait, more people on the planet? Supply/demand thing? Well, yeah, ... BUT, we still starve more than we did in 1961! And hundreds of millions of acres of South America have been turned into productive ... COFFEE plantations..........other acres more cows, more corn, more grain for beef, etc etc. We still starve lots of people in order for our $10 pizza.

No, I paid $.20 a quart for milk in 1961, I don't pay $2. a quart now, I pay $1. Same should be true for pizza...4-5 times what I did 50 years ago.
