Americans in Saudi Arabia warned of kidnapping plot

WASHINGTON - U.S. citizens in the Saudi Arabian capital are being warned they may be targeted as part of a kidnapping plot.

A warden message from the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh says U.S. intelligence has learned of a terror plot to kidnap westerners.

The emergency message advises Americans to keep security and levels of situational awareness high.

Although the message does not say what group the threat stems from, al-Qaida has been active in the area. The embassy is warning Americans to vary their routines to and from work, and not to frequent shops with regularity.
