Setti Warren to end bid for Senate
Source: Boston Globe

Mayor Setti Warren of Newton, whose campaign for the US Senate was short on cash and eclipsed by the emergence of Elizabeth Warren, will announce that he is dropping out, according to an early supporter who received a phone call yesterday.

The campaign confirmed last night that Setti Warren was calling supporters and said he would make an announcement on the future of his campaign this morning.

Warren, 41, was initially seen as a potential front-runner in the Democratic field seeking to unseat Senator Scott Brown, a Republican. Warren, an Iraq war veteran, had worked for US Senator John Kerry and made an impressive initial run for public office in winning Newton’s top job in 2009. Since entering the race on May 9, he maintained a particularly busy campaign schedule, attending more than 100 events around the state.

But many in Newton, including US Representative Barney Frank, questioned whether he was running too soon after winning his seat as mayor.

1. That's probably a good thing.
The more support for Elizabeth Warren, the better.

2. He's putting the people first which shows he has a noble heart and healthy ego.
That's pretty refreshing.

3. And the article never says if they're related or not. Same last name, after all
Okay, Setti is black and Elizabeth is white, so they're probably not blood relation, but the article doesn't show a pic of Elizabeth, either. And, of course, there could be relation by marriage.

If I didn't know Elizabeth's race, I wouldn't know because there's nothing in the article text about any relationship they may have.

5. They are NOT related. The mayor is also in his first year as mayor
and generally regarded as a good mayor. He is also the first black mayor ever of Newton.

6. Demiocrats were blessed to have many good candidates for that seat.
However, none of them has Koch money behind him or her and none of them has Boston media fawning on him or her like the Brown turd does.

I hope the party lets Massachusetts sort out its own primary, then we all pulls together very hard behind whoever wins the primary.

Fighting the Koch money is not going to be easy. The candidate who wins the primary is going to need donations from all over the country.

So, if the Democrats in your states are shoo ins, please consider sending even $5 to whoever wins the primary.'

Thanks.

7. Yes...Kochs will be all over this race, also Limbaugh and his ilk. Elizabeth will need every penny
sent.

8. While I agree donating is a good idea, Scott Brown will lose to an even slightly strong campaign.
