Andy Rooney signs off from ‘60 Minutes’: ‘Wish I could do this forever’
Source: Chicago Sun-Times

NEW YORK — Andy Rooney insisted he’s not retiring. He’s a writer, and a writer never stops being a writer.

Even so, he delivered his final weekly essay on “60 Minutes” Sunday night, his last in his 33 years with the newsmagazine. It was a moment, he said he has dreaded.

“I wish I could do this forever. I can’t, though,” he said.

CBS News announced last week that the 92-year-old Rooney would be stepping down from his well-entrenched berth on “60 Minutes” after delivering his 1,097th commentary.

7. He sure has done this forever.
I guess it's only a matter of time before they cancel 60 Min now.

It'll probably just end on its own when they put Mike Wallace out on the ice floe.

Pretty good interview.

Oh, in the middle of it, the old curmudgeon, feeling it hard to say so, says "thank you" in a heartwarmingly genuine way I'd say you could feel right through the TV screen.

Thanks, Andy, for the realness.

13. I know. He's made me livid a few times. But, he says so, so, that's saying so.
I think he lacked proper information on some things he spoke which made me mad. Can't remember one of them -- not that I shouldn't recall it -- just ain't happening.

That makes me question most Dems I know. They don't all live here.

3. I guess it's time..........
his curmudgeon act was wearing very thin. And those eyebrows! :puke: Why would anyone want to look at the world through those hairy tarantulas on their forehead? Trim them for god's sake!
