Soros sympathizes with Wall St. protesters
Source: AP

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Billionaire financier George Soros says he sympathizes with protesters speaking out against corporate greed in ongoing protests on Wall Street.

Soros answered a question about the protests During a Monday news conference at U.N. headquarters about his participation in a large-scale development project in rural Africa.

Soros says he understands the frustrations of small business owners, for instance those who have seen credit card charges soar during the current crisis.

Soros founded the Open Society Foundations. He and Earth Institute at Columbia University director Jeffrey Sachs are announcing the newest phase of the Millennium Villages Project, which works closely with several U.N. agencies.

3. The whole aim of the protests is a change of heart by Wall St.
Soros and Buffet are in better position than anyone else to effect that from the inside.

4. The pass granted Soros is stunning.
That motherfucker has arbitraged hundreds of billions in currencies and has therefore fucked with entire economies...but all he has to do is cast a few crumbs and he's a hero. Jesus.

7. He has also funded democratic movements across Eastern Europe.
He is a philanthropist. Contrast his handling of his money with Rupert Murdoch's.

Here is a quote from an article about him in which he responds to criticism like yours:

Asked if it bothers him that people accuse him of causing economic pain, his blue eyes dart around the room. “Yes, it does, actually yes,” he said.

Asked if those people are right to blame him, he says, “Well no, not entirely.”

No single investor can move a currency, he said. “Markets move currencies, so what happened with the British pound would have happened whether I was born or not, so therefore I take no responsibility.”

8. Having trouble taking you seriously with that avatar.
And he can TOTALLY move a currency.

Rose-colored glasses, indeed.

9. I have that avatar as a protest against the fact that Democrats are
always "caught" and ruined when they have sexual escapades whereas Republicans like Vitter and Ensign hold on and face virtually no repercussions.

Edwards was great on economic issues. If you read his platform, you learned that he was the only true progressive who ran in 2008.

A lot of people say that he was not sincere because he worked for a hedge fund for a while. I think that is probably why he included a lot about the problems in the housing market and the financial sector and the trade agreements and outsourcing in his platform.

So that is why I have the Edwards avatar. I put it on after the Anthony Weiner fiasco. I am an older woman who has enjoyed a very long marriage, but I have seen it all. Sexual affairs are far more common than people are willing to admit. The Republicans just get away with this stuff more frequently because Democrats feel it is cheap and low to snoop into people's private lives. Democrats do it in defense but are not creepy about it just for some little sadistic thrill as are the Republicans.

I've seen enough of the marriages of my co-workers and friends dissolve as one or the other has an affair. And usually the affair is a symptom and not the problem. So I have a different, more mature attitude toward Edwards.

I'd rather have a president who lies about his private sex life than one who cavorts with the Wall Streeters and subscribes to the Chicago School of Economics.

12. The right wing thinks he is the person behind these protests
They bring up his name all the time. Is he behind everything the left does and I just don't know it?
