Health consumers make deficit fight personal
Source: Reuters

The numbers are devastating: almost 2,000 poor kids in Texas with cancer, another 18,000 with diabetes and more than 350,000 suffering from chronic lung disease, heart disease or stroke.

What sounds like a grim statistical report on poverty and disease is actually a lobbying message from Medicaid advocates to Texas congressman Jeb Hensarling, Republican co-chairman of a special congressional panel charged with cutting at least $1.2 trillion from the U.S. deficit over 10 years.

The message is in a 14-page electronic brochure titled "Medicaid's Impact in Texas," sent to Hensarling and other Texas lawmakers by the health consumer advocacy group Families USA, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, American Diabetes Association and American Lung Association.

(snip)
"We want to make sure members of the super committee feel a more personal connection to what Medicaid cuts would mean for people in their home states," said Ron Pollack, executive director of the Families USA, which is spearheading the campaign.

1. Seriously? Like sending a report like that to...

A Christian Family Values Republican will matter...One day advocates for the poor, sick & disabled will learn that Christian Family Values is about looking out for families like the Koch Bros & not families who do not have a voice or money to buy influence in DC.

After all we are talking about the Party of the Biblical Jesus...The Bible character that spawned Capitalist Philosophy & had an utter hatred for those who were poor, sick & disabled.

Jesus made it perfectly clear in this very famous verse...
"And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a poor, sick and/or disabled man, woman or child to enter into the kingdom of God."

...OR

Blessed are the Job Creators: for they shall inherit the earth.

3. They sure love the word "family", don't they?
And "god", and "America", and "liberty", and "freedom", all of which right-wing extremists prattle about endlessly while all the while promoting explicitly un-American, un-Christian, inhuman policies. The sheep who vote for them are apparently easily mesmerized by right-wing buzzwords.
