Syrian troops 'kill Syrian farmer in Lebanon'
Source: BBC

Syrian forces have crossed into Lebanese territory and shot dead a Syrian man living in a border area, reports say.

The man killed was reportedly a farmer living in a remote area of Lebanon's eastern Bekaa region. It is unclear why the man, named as Ali al-Khatib - who was married to a Lebanese woman and living in the area - was killed.

According to reports, Syrian army vehicles crossed the border near Saaba, in the Bekaa region, and attacked farmers and their homes. Witnesses said several buildings were damaged.

A Lebanese official told AFP news agency as saying the body of the Syrian man who died was left lying at the site, and that an investigation was under way.

At least the Syrian army was smart enough to cross into Lebanon rather than into Turkey which has a much stronger military.

2. Like I said before, Syria learned well from the coalition forces when it comes to killing people.
I wonder how they will emulate us next time?

3. Its getting pathetic in here. Every time another country commits an atrocity
there is a bunch of posters who dismiss it. For whatever reason, you dismiss it. YOU are not part of the government, so YOU would not be a hypocrite to denounce evil actions by another nation. So why dont you?

4. You are free to leave then.
Your concern is noted as is your lack of understanding of hypocrisy.

9. I suppose you never heard of the Massacre of Hama
to impugn the professionalism and dignity of coalition forces, maligning them and comparing them to Assad's despotic regime is reprehensible.

7. Ouch
Anyway, I dont believe these news about Syria. Theres no way they continue to attack their unarmed civilians after what happened to Gaddafi. Gaddafi was just talking about killing the armed insurgent and he was taken out, now Assad must be a really really really mental to continue attcking peaceful protesters and I dont think he is not demented.

Anyway, I still think we mind our business on this. We have taken a country with the highest standard of living in Africa, a country with more social benefits than the US and Canada combined and relegated it to near the bottom.

8. Where do you get your news? Gaddafi?
Edited on Fri Oct-07-11 12:27 PM by Muskypundit
He bombed hundreds of peaceful protesters to death. Then they became armed. And I don't know anything about their quality of life, but I think a democratic government should do a better job of providing for the people than a dictator. And there was a rebellion against gaddafi for a couple months before NATO got involved. Already the revisionism has begun....

11. The United States should denounce this
Can you imagine a country's military violating the sovereign territory of another nation to kill one of its own citizens without due process, presentation of evidence or--

Uh, nevermind.
