Cannes Picks Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 911"

Friends,

I just got word that my new film, "Fahrenheit 911," has been selected by the Cannes Film Festival to premiere there in competition next month!

This is only the second time in the last 48 years that a documentary has been chosen to be in the main competition (the first being "Bowling for Columbine" in 2002) -- and, in fact, another documentary has also been chosen for this year. The non-fiction film revolution rolls on!

I am deeply honored by this announcement, considering it comes from our mortal enemy, the French.

This year's jury in Cannes is headed by Quentin Tarantino and also includes director Jerry Schatzberg, Kathleen Turner, Tilda Swinton and others.

"Fahrenheit 911" will be in theaters across the U.S. (and the rest of the world) this summer. More info, gossip and all the juicy details to follow...

If Michael stays true to form, this movie will be well-publicized, controversial, and talked about through election season. Also, for the non-reading American sheep, perhaps this movie will open their eyes to what's really going on in this country.

During, and after the coup, I was appalled by the way that the media journalists crawled away with their tail between their legs. It was apparent that they did not have the courage to expose the big lie. I felt betrayed and hopeless.

Since then, we have seen some brave souls take up the sword in defense of our democracy: numerous book authors (including our own William Pitt), Move-On.org and straight shooting candidate Howard Dean. Now Michael Moore kicks it up a notch, and goes international. I love it.

These people have lit the fire for us and I admire their courage. They are true American Patriots.

...the movie won't show in cities like mine (Macon, GA). When Bowling hit theaters (and stayed there for a ridiculously long time), the closest place showing it was in Atlanta. And I'm in a city of 100,000 people.

Of course, people here picketed while the Harry Potter movies were showing -- how DARE they portray witchcraft in a positive light, even if it WAS just a fantasy movie for little kids. Scary, isn't it?

Call, write. Get others to do so. If citizens can protest the showing of a movie, they can certainly protest the non-showing of a movie. Call your local papers, ask them to review this film. This is after all a hot topic. The title alone should draw people in.

Don't ask. Demand! Keep the pressure on.
