Nancy Scola
Fourteen NYC councilmembers call on Bloomberg not to empty Zuccotti Park (calling it "Liberty Park").

These traditions of free speech, public assembly, and public protest are a deep part of our American tradition, honored best of all in the civic spaces of New York City. Whether you agree or disagree with what they are saying - and we are mixed in our opinions - we believe that it would be a harmful disservice to these democratic traditions to edict them.

Please reconsider the enforcement of these new rules and work with the community board, local elected officials, and the protestors on regulations that address community concerns, but allow the protestors to remain."

Sincerely,

Council Member Brad Lander
Council Member Letitia James
Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer
Council Member Daniel Dromm
Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito
Council Member Stephen Levin
Council Member Annabel Palma
Council Member Gale Brewer
Council Member Rosie Mendez
Council Member Daniel Garodnick
Council Member Mathieu Eugene
Council Member Jumaane Williams
Council member James Sanders Jr.

11. Well, I lazily asked the same damn question, but then figured
there might not be anyone from NYC eyeballing this so I did the google...

But we both asked at the exact same time!

9. Okay, about 50 council members, only 4 of whom are Rethugs, and only 14 wrote Bloomberg.
Again, our traditional paradigms don't work in today's world.

2. How many city council members are there in the mayor's domain, there?
Is this a preponderance of the representation, or simply a slice?

8. Bloomberg should listen. The City Council made it possible for him to run for an unprecedented
third term, allowing him to be be mayor right now.

are represented. That is a start.
