San Francisco ChronicleAn undercover gang operation has led to the arrest of more than 100 people in five counties, including some in the Bay Area, the state's top prosecutor said Friday.
Officials said they planned to make more arrests in coming days as part of the ongoing, 18-month investigation that involves federal, state and local authorities.
The 103 people arrested over the last three days face various charges, including the sale of drugs, firearms and stolen property and vehicles in Alameda, Santa Clara, San Benito, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.
All of those arrested, including more than 50 with ties to the Norteños street gang, have prior criminal convictions, Attorney General Kamala Harris said at a news conference. Fewer than five of the people are associated with the rival Sureños, she said.
