Hundreds 'occupy' Omaha

Hundreds of Occupy Omaha protesters politely snaked their way through downtown streets Saturday.

About 10:30 a.m. most of the few hundred Occupy protesters were stationed in front of the Federal Reserve Bank building at 2201 Farnam St.

Many vehicles, including one taxi cab, honked as they drove by the large crowd.

The atmosphere remained calm throughout the march with Tea Party members mixing in amicably with the Occupy protesters.

Edit: I forgot to mention one of the D candidates for US Congress in Ne. 2 was there. Gwen Howard is one hell of a D!

Yes I was there and had a great time. We will be doing it again next Saturday. I believe there were less than 10 Tea Party members there throwing insults at as.

Citizens from both Occupy Omaha and the Tea Party gather in front of the City County building at 1819 Farnam St. to make their grievances known. Just before 10 a.m., the members of Occupy Omaha marched west on Farnam to the Federal Reserve building at 2201 Farnam.

3. This Is Rather Incomplete Reporting
They do have the crowd size about right at 900-1000. I did a head count on the Tea Party group and there were exactly 8 in that crowd. There was another group of Ron Paul supporters that mingled with the Occupy Omaha group and they carried signs saying "end the Fed". After marching on the sidewalk around the Fed branch the group split with some going back to the original location and another group doubling back to enter the parking area of the Fed branch. That group later did march thru the Old Market and back to Gene Leahy Mall. It was announced there that another demonstration will be held tomorrow at Memorial Park. Smaller, daily, protests will be held all week long at Turner Park. A lady celebrating her 91st birthday decided to celebrate it at the protest and everybody sang her Happy Birthday.
