ONE of the Queen's horse guardsmen has hanged himself in the stables at his barracks.

The 36-year-old soldier, due to be married, was found yesterday morning.

As a Corporal of Horse in The Life Guards - one of the Army's smartest regiments - the soldier took part in Royal ceremonial duties such as Trooping the Colour with the Queen.

Paying tribute to the divorced dad of two, commanding officer Lt Col Valentine Woyka said: "He was a highly regarded and well- respected senior member of the regiment in the prime of his career.

I've made a point of enjoying the Queen's Horse Guard on every visit to London. The changing of the guard ceremony on the parade grounds adjacent to Downing Street has been an afternoon ritual for me.
