Central Fla. Air Passenger: 'You're All Going To Die'
Source: WKMG-TV

AMARILLO, Texas -- A man was arrested Tuesday after his unruly behavior aboard a Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Kansas City compelled the flight crew to make an emergency landing in Texas.

Ali Reza Shahsavari, 29, of Indialantic, has been charged with interfering with a flight crew, said Patrick Rhodes, Amarillo’s aviation director. He was booked into the Randall County Jail in Canyon, Texas, where he awaited an appearance before a magistrate.

Flight 3683 landed without incident and the man was taken into custody for questioning by federal officials. None of the 136 passengers and five crew members was injured, and the aircraft resumed its flight after a security sweep, said Brad Hawkins, spokesman for the Dallas-based airline.

Initially, authorities said the man had tried to break into the cockpit but Rhodes later said he was “not trying to break into the cockpit, but was unruly and had confronted the cabin crew.”

5. LOL
I was reminded of that scene from Midnight Run when Charles Grodin refused to fly and they made DeNiro take him off the plane

13. Well yes. I would need to know the tone, volume and body language in order to make a judgment.
If he said it quietly and reflectively while stroking his beard, one could argue that he was just practicing his bedside manner in case he ever became a psychiatrist.

14. Corporations (who have the same rights as people) don't die, so this is a lie.

Only organic, human people die. Corporations do not die, even though they have the same rights as people now.

17. Famou last wordws--by playwright William Saroyan:
Edited on Wed Oct-19-11 02:14 PM by tblue37
"I always knew that everyone must die, but somehow I always assumed an exception would be made in my case."

(quoted from memory--might not be perfect)

Of course, you just know he had that line planned well ahead of time.

On edit: I just googled to get his exact words:
Before his death in 1981, Saroyan telephoned his final words to the Associated Press. “Everybody has got to die, but I have always believed an exception would be made in my case. Now what?”

8. That seems a better policy than making an unscheduled landing.
The air crew should be able to subdue and cuff the guy, and gag him if necessary. Then they could stuff him in a lavoratory or in an overhead bin for the remainder of the flight.

No, that wouldn't work. There is never enough room left in the overhead bins.

7. "...was unruly and had confronted the cabin crew.” Not to mention...
... that he had a foreign-sounding name!

I've seen a hell of a lot of unruly passengers, many of whom "confronted" cabin crew. I've never had a flight aborted for these reasons. Of course the unruly passengers were all either drunk white men or arrogant white women (disclosure: I'm a white male).

You can bet the right will rack this up as one more "Muslin terrist".

12. There are the folks that are CRAZY (!!!!!) but, they can still buy a big old airplane ticket!
They wouldn't be allowed into many places but they can still get on a plane.

Time to stop this shit.
