Herman Cain: 'Abortion Should Not Be Legal'
Source: Huffington Post

Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain sought to clarify his position on abortion Friday afternoon in an appearance on Fox News.

"Abortion should not be legal, that is clear. But if that family made a decision to break the law, that's that family's decision, that's all I'm trying to say," he said. . .

. . . Cain was asked on Fox News whether it would be problematic for his campaign. "Well I'm sorry if it's going to be problematic. Let me just state again, I am pro-life from conception, no exceptions," Cain replied. "I was trying to separate two situations here, and if they won't allow me to separate those two situations, they won't allow me to separate those two situations. That's unfortunate. I don't know how much more I can say that if I am pro-life from conception no exceptions, I will not fund any abortions by the government, I will sign any legislation to defund Planned Parenthood and all of the other variations of this whole pro-life issue."

The Koch machine must have told him to say whatever it takes to gain favor with the Iowa caucus types, most of which would probably execute women making their legal choice. Disgusting.

7. There are no INTELLIGENT reasons why abortion shouldn't be legal.
Just because someone is living in an alternate universe, or several centuries removed, or a totalitarian dictatorship doesn't mean it justifies confining everyone else to their beliefs.

I don't want to live in Saudi Arabia. I want to live in an intelligent, modern, civil society.

So blow me, asshole. That's my Rude Pundit imitation.

27. in college, as one male student said to me
"it's not my body, I should have no right to determine one's decision and if men had babies, they'd have legalized abortion a long time ago."

Let's see--who outlawed abortion? There was hitler, ceusceus of romania and the emperor of japan. Now, do we believe they did it because they believed in the sanctity of life?

And, as my environmental professor stated back in the eighties, if they take away choice, they'll soon be after delegalizing any form of birth control.

First he says he thinks abortion should be legal but that he is personally opposed to it. Now he says it should be illegal. What a crock of shit he is. His 9-9-9 plan is a total failure. I hope he can find a janitorial job at Wally World.

So be it. Then I am sure he will respect a jury making the decision to nullify any charges brought by prosecutors who charge them with having an illegal abortion.

21. If he's a Repuke, he has to think this way
It's part of the party line: No abortion for any reason whatsoever even if the pregnancy is about to kill the mother.

IIRC these guys are so extreme that if the fetus dies inside the mother, an operation to remove the dead fetus is called an abortion and can't be done.

So yeah, if Cain gets elected and gets his entire program through, taxes will be cut to the point where the only things the United States can support are the military and a million-man (not million-person, million-MAN) vagina police to make sure every ejaculation goes to term. The only thing I haven't heard from these assholes, and I'm sure it's coming, is "childbearing is a patriotic duty." (I expect to hear it because Romanian thug Nicolae Ceaucescu's Decree 770 was announced to the people with that exact sentence, and since the Repukes seem to love them some Ceaucescu...)

23. pro fetus, hate the woman & child, typical hypocrites
No it is not a typo, you read the title correctly, “Miscarriage = Jail Time.” That is what this Georgia General Assembly Bill (HB1) is trying to impose on people. Apparently the plan is to knock women down when they are already in pain.

This bill is proposing that the Official Code of Georgia Annotated be amended to say that prenatal murder is unlawful. Although this bill is obviously aimed at those who choose to have abortions (which is a whole other topic for discussing another day), the wording in this bill is absolutely astonishing. According to the bill, “prenatal murder” means the intentional removal of a fetus from a woman with an intention other than to produce a live birth or to remove a dead fetus; provided, however, that if a physician makes a medically justified effort to save the lives of both the mother and the fetus and the fetus does not survive, such action shall not be prenatal murder. Such term does not include a naturally occurring expulsion of a fetus known medically as a ‘spontaneous abortion’ and popularly as a ‘miscarriage’ so long as there is no human involvement whatsoever in the causation of such event.”

26. If rich white men got pregnant, we would not be having this conversation.
I usually avoid mentioning male privilege, because it's easy to make broadbrush generalizations that are unfair to the many individuals who are male, but in the case of abortion, it's always been very clear to me. If the men who run the U.S. got pregnant, this would not be an issue. Abortions would be free, private, and undiscussed.

That is all.

32. No law OR MAN is ever gonna tell me what I can do or cannot do
with my uterus. PERIOD.

I'm too old now to have babies but I make sure all my grandaughters and daughters realize it is our right to do what we desire with our own bodies.

I definitely don't support abortions for "birth control"..but I definitely believe in MY CONTROL OVER WHAT I CAN CHOOSE OR DO ESPECIALLY WITH MY BODY!!!!!!!!!
