Search Continues For Missing MCAS Miramar Jet Top Stories

(San Diego, CA) -- Search efforts for a missing Marine Corps Air Station Miramar F-18 fighter jet are being concentrated in the Anza-Borrego desert, north of Warner Springs. The Federal Aviation Administration says the military jet failed to return last night from a training mission to Yuma, Arizona. The plane is one of two MCAS Miramar jets that took off en route to San Diego. The other jet arrived safely. The missing two man crew is attached to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Force.

I think that is what he's trying to say. The beacon that comes on after a crash I believe.

SAN DIEGO – Search crews on Thursday located the wreckage of a $28 million military fighter jet that crashed in the Imperial Valley desert, a Marine spokesman said.

The pilot, the plane's sole occupant, remained unaccounted for and the search was continuing.

Search crews located the F/A-18 Hornet Thursday morning in a remote area near Glamis, about 160 miles east of San Diego, according to Lt. Kevin Schultz, a spokesman for the Marine air base in Yuma, Ariz. that directed the search.

9. Did the Army lose an A-10 awhile ago?

I think they found it a week later on the side of a mountain.

I remember wondering if some terrorists had gotten hold of it. You could do some real damage.
