Bipartisan House Group Pushes for Grand Bargain
Source: Roll Call

Signs of bipartisanship are slowly beginning to show on Capitol Hill, even as Congress moves into full campaign mode.

A collection of nearly 100 House Members, split almost evenly between the two parties, is preparing to send a letter this week calling on the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction to negotiate a grand bargain. Supporters of the effort, led by Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho), include dozens of lawmakers who have been meeting all year to discuss fiscal issues.

The group’s efforts come as a New York Times/CBS News poll places Congress’s approval rating at 9 percent and just weeks before the super committee is scheduled to put forward its recommendations to reduce the deficit by at least $1.2 trillion.

“They have to go big and everything has to be on the table,” Simpson said recently of the super committee. “I don’t think you can take anything off the table and get to where we need to be.”

1. Yep, you have to find ways to steal ALL the working class $$
Just stealing some is unacceptable when the whole enchilada is out there for the taking. Just think how the 1% could use all that extra cash and who cares if more people die from illness, accidents due to no health care or good paying job availability! :sarcasm:

Here's their real wish list -

Social security - gone entirely, doesn't benefit the rich except as a slush fund for stealing
Medicare - will continue in a small way (prizatized insurance co. donations are big) but with way higher costs and much reduced benefits.
Unions - 100% outlawed
School - no public schooling
Retirement accounts - stolen by Wall St./government
Child labor laws - rescinded
Birth control - illegal and punishable with prison terms
Abortion - illegal and punishable with life imprisonment where you can work for the government for free.
Environmental laws - all rescinded, asthma rate doubles in 3 years, deaths rise precipitously

And OWS is who is getting beaten? What a f#ed up country we live in.

3. Well, that means no tax increases if the Republicans...
are actually talking to Democrats.

4. And the Democrats, including Obama will roll over
I hope I'm wrong on this but I think if something totally draconian such as this were proposed Obama would say..."well, it was the best I could get". the Democrats in the House would protest mightily but their small numbers would mean nothing and Senate Democrats (I only consider a handful of them Democrats) would speedily vote for the deal. After all they are bought and paid for by the same lobbyists and corporate money as the Republicans.
