Police arrest Occupy protesters in Denver

Twenty people were arrested in Denver after a standoff when around 2,000 Occupy protesters moved towards the Capitol

Police in riot gear fired pepper balls and mace into a crowd of economic protesters in Denver on Saturday and arrested 20 after some people entered the grounds of the State Capitol, police said.

Denver Police Spokesman Lieutenant Matt Murray said about 2,000 demonstrators from Occupy Wall Street protests against economic inequality marched peacefully through downtown Denver, as they have done for the past several Saturdays.

But the situation heated up when protesters moved toward the Capitol. The Colorado State Patrol, which provides security for the statehouse, requested aid from Denver police when marchers entered the Capitol grounds, Murray said.

Someone then kicked over a police motorcycle, slightly injuring an officer, and kicked several other officers, he said. Police in riot gear moved in on the crowd, firing pepper balls and mace into the crowd, Murray said.

1. so, someone kicked over a motorcycle and kicked the cops
so they arrested the crowd? Did they just stand there and let the guy kick them? I don't believe that part of their story.

Why did he kick at you? Because you threw him onto the ground?

But he was already on the ground, I guess he kinda slipped when the sarge hit him with the bean bag gun. That didn't give him the right to kick at us. So we shot him.

4. First it would be nice to ascertain that there actually *was* an instigator..
I don't believe a syllable that comes out of the mouths of TPTB, specifically including the police.

6. Well so far the police have lied about every single act of violence
Except they've been caught on camera. Soon enough they'll attempt to crack down on cell phones so they don't get recorded while busting heads.

8. The cops don't even need
to be attacked. They just have to say it, and that's how it will be reported. These cops are dressed and armed like imperial storm troopers from Star Wars. Anyone who walks up and kicks one is either violently insane or working for them.

10. wall st has 1000 radio stations to use this anyway they want all over the country
and they're getting a free speech free ride. CO politics is ruled by RW radio, with only 1 progressive station.

thsoe talk radio stations apply huge pressure on local politicians and cops to crackdown and they'll be making excuses for the police violence and spinning the OWS events any way they want- because no one talks back to them in real time.

a lot of those stations do pro and university sports and they need to be shamed along with the local sponsors of those stations.

OWS protestors would do good to include radio stations in their protests.

11. I saw another thread here about this mass arrest and

one of the demonstrators said that the cop rammed him with the motorcycle, so he pushed back... I'm guessing this is what the spokesman is referring to. I'll try and find the thread and post its link here.

12. The video tells the real story...
I watched a video, the police were attempting to ride motorcycles through the encampment, the crowd was shouting for them to stop, A guy gets angry after the motorcyle cop runs over his foot and so pushes at the back of the cops bike. The cop who was uninjured drops his bike to the ground and in a very uninjured manner chases after the guy to arrest him. The video followed the incident through the guys arrest, and somehow he ended up with a very bloody face.

Don't make assumptions that everything is as reported or that everything you hear from police is the absolute truth.
