CNN Is Said to Be Revamping Its Morning Lineup (Ashleigh Banfield will host)

CNN, which remodeled its afternoon and evening schedule earlier this year, is now on the verge of remaking its morning schedule.

The channel, a unit of Time Warner, is expected to announce as early as this week that Soledad O’Brien, one of its former morning anchors, will start anchoring from 7 to 9 a.m. weekdays. Ashleigh Banfield, until recently a correspondent for ABC News, will start co-anchoring from 5 to 7 a.m.

(...)

Ms. Banfield has been seen recently on “Good Morning America” as a correspondent. She joined ABC News two years ago after working as a host on TruTV and her contract is believed to be up in November.

She became well-known while anchoring for MSNBC after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and was briefly mentioned as a possible co-anchor for “Today,” but she departed the network in 2004 after giving a speech that was critical of television coverage of the Iraq war.

In his Savage Nation book, Michael Savage attacked Banfield as someone who "went from porno into reporting." However, do you think Banfield (like Peter Jennings a Canadian) will just kiss up to her establishment-defending bosses at CNN? At least MSNBC gave Chris Hayes a Saturday morning show.

2. Because most viewers want the more partisan programs on FNC or MSNBC
People want beyond the ordinary programming in primetime so they seek the opinions of Hannity on the right or Maddow on the left rather than the rather non-partisan approach that CNN takes. Eliot Spitzer's evening talk show was rather short-lived. 15 years ago it was easier for the cable networks to have generic programming in primetime, such as CNN having a daily evening news cast at 8PM or MTV playing music videos in primetime.

19. The only way
that CNN can be improved is give it back to Ted Turner.

3. I ******wish***** Msnbc gave Chris Hedges a saturday morning show
it was Chris HAYES.

Hedges would be someone *I'd* get up to watch, that's for sure. But Comcast would have him bumped off after the first show

6. D'OH! Thanks for pointing that out, but since Hayes writes for Nation magazine
and thus is a reliable left voice while Chris Hedges is a Middle East affairs journalist employed with the Nation Institute, why would you prefer Hedges? (I confused the two Chris H's, and both are affiliated with Nation!)

9. why? Chris Hedges has no problems with speaking the harsh truth
While Hayes wants to be a talking head, and thus uses *manners* with his reporting. Hedges doesn't pull punches.

Two *totally* different reporters.

12. I miss Paula Zhann
she left abruptly. Never could stand Solodad O'Brien, I liked Spitzer but I liked Olberman more, I hope he ends up on Current Tv with Keith and Urger.

5. She's one of the better journalists out there. Remember how she got fired from MSNBC.
She gave a speech ripping the media's compliant, lockstep cheerleading during the Iraq war and their failure to tolerate critical thinking and dissent.

I'm a fan.

11. I'm a huge fan of someone fired for, in essence, reporting with journalistic
integrity, something the MSM seemingly would not tolerate as it sought to hide the truth and glorify junior and his wars. :patriot:

7. Maybe if there was actual news on, it would help.
Really tired of various "trials" covered 24 hours, and all kinds of weird talk shows like Dr. Drew, etc, when I'd really like to see some news.

8. "Departed the network"...
What an interesting phrase.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashleigh_Banfield

In April 2003, in a speech at Kansas State University, Banfield raised concerns regarding media coverage of the conflict in Iraq. She also spoke against "cable news operators who wrap themselves in the American flag and go after a certain target demographic", and specifically named Fox News Channel as an example.<3> The New York Times reported that her speech angered NBC management, who rebuked her and lowered her profile.<2>

I was office-less for ten months ... No phone, no computer. For ten months I had to report to work every day and ask where I could sit. If somebody was away I could use their desk. Eventually, after ten months of this, I was given an office that was a tape closet. They cleared the tapes out and put a desk and a TV in there, and a computer and phone. It was pretty blatant. The message was crystal clear. Yet they wouldn't let me leave. I begged for seventeen months to be let out of my contract. If they had no use for me, let's just part ways amicably—no need for payouts, just a clean break. And wouldn't allow it. I don't know what his rationale was—perhaps he thought I would take what I felt was a very strong brand, and others felt was a very strong brand, to another network and make a success of it. Maybe that's why he chose to keep me in a warehouse. I will never forgive him for his cruelty and the manner in which he decided to dispose of me.

Disgusting "WHORE MEDIA." Why does anyone watch.

Get your WEII, ROKU, or other MEDIA BOX and watch REAL "International News!" I you go back after watching that you will realize the propaganda we Amerians live under and it will make your views pale in comparison once you are exposed to "other" viewpoints.
