St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa is calling it quits.

The Cardinals skipper announced his retirement Monday morning, just days after guiding the team to its 11th World Series Championship.

"It's just time to do something else," La Russa said.

La Russa, 67, spent 16 seasons as manager of the Cardinals, winning two World Series titles (2006 and 2011) and making it to a third (2004). He managed the Oakland Athletics to a World Series (1989) prior to coming to St. Louis.

7. Not at all.
Don't like Rangers and Nolan Ryan at all.
Just a hater of Larussa's arrogance and right wing Glenn Beck (with Pujols) crap.
I know a lot (most) people in baseball are Republicans, but don't shove it in my face. Let me enjoy the sport without that interjection, along with the god bless america seventh inning crap and all the military stuff.

2. That's the way to go.
He's been sick in recent years and didn't look like his old self. The dye job was really bad too. I think he's likely a hall of famer, but we'll see.

10. He probably doesn't feel much of a challenge
Edited on Mon Oct-31-11 02:16 PM by Blue_Tires
since the other managers around the league have gotten noticably dumber the past few years

and this probably means Pujols is LONG gone now...
