Senators Call on Gorelick to Testify
WASHINGTON (AP) - Eleven Republican senators called on former Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick to testify before the Sept. 11 commission on which she serves.

Gorelick was a top deputy to Clinton administration Attorney General Janet Reno. Some Republicans have called on her to resign from the panel, claiming her tenure at the Justice Department amounts to a conflict of interest.

The senators did not ask her to step aside, but said she should testify under oath before the panel.

``It is our firm belief that any committee report or recommendations will be incomplete without public testimony by Ms. Gorelick about her activities while serving as Deputy Attorney General,'' the senators wrote in a letter sent Thursday to commission chairman Thomas Kean and vice chairman Lee Hamilton.

1. I think that is a great idea
Someone needs to rebut the vicious slander perpetrated by Ashcroft in his earlier testimony.

2. And she should reply: I will be happy to testify in front of the
Commission alone as soon as the President testifies in front of the Commission ALONE.

4. She should. On one condition....
Under the condition that W must testify alone, without his puppet master.

If they can play that game with Condi, why shouldn't the Dems play too.

10. Agreed!
I've read some news that various Pubbie commissioners were peeved at Ashcroft's granstanding. I think that Jamie Gorelick will do an extremely good job at defending herself.

I just see desperate Right-Wingnuts grasping at straws. BUSH IS DONE!

6. The contrast with the venomous testimony of Ashcroft will be great!
She will make her case well. And for the first time, some Senators may actually learn something about the courts, the law, national security,
and the justice system.

7. These attack tactics are obnoxiously repulsive.
Democrats will have to gather and throw out letters pertaining to all the conflicts of interest of every Republican member sitting on that panel and remind the public that Republicans have turned this into a partisan panel via their attacks.

Geez, this panel some be putting together some really good shitzka for the Republicans to be spewing out their predatory tactics.

With respect to Ms. Gorelick's response,...she should simply nail their partisanship butts to the wall and refuse to be bullied!!

9. Why do those fuckers think it's up to them who should testify?
I think anyone the commission calls to testify should do so, including Gorelick.

But they have to be the ones to decide who they call.

11. They are setting her up as a scapegoat when the evidence goes against
their party. They aren't really guilty. She was biased.

14. They must know that the report is going to be very damning
This is their attempt at a preemptive strike to cast the panel in a partisan light, but they may have trouble when Republicans like Lehman, Gordon, and Kean come to the same conclusion.

12. She's already testified under oath in private.
If it makes sense to do so publicly, I'm sure she will ... and be an exceptionally strong witness to boot.

15. Nice try keeping the panel non-partisan, Leave it up to the cry baby pugs
Could we also call into question Mr Zelikow's association with Condi Rice.
Zelikow should testify under pretense of prejudice.
Can he actually remain unbiased, considering their close relationship?

Gorelick is going to shove Asscrofts words down his throat. Then it will be over.
He is a mere peon to the 9-11 panel. He's no one special.

He looks more suspicious now that he's whining and stomping his feet, throwing a tantrum with hopes of diverting attention away from the truth about him and his stupid boss.

Asscroft is a big crybaby.
How embarassing to be a republican nowadays.
