Those were the words of Horicon Republican Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, as the Wisconsin State Assembly is still in session early Wednesday morning.

Legislators entered their ninth hour of debate (part of it in Democratic caucus) over a bill and an amendment to a bill that would typically not create controversy.

"Here we are at 4:30 in the morning! 4:30 in the morning!" yelled Kenosha Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca during the session......

This is THE issue...

WiStateJournal No rest: State Assembly resumes debate over surprise minority treatment bill http://t.co/OvG40Brn

...........The bill at the heart of the latest debate originally made largely technical changes to a $4.4 million program that extends between $600 and $1,800 grants to the most needy and educationally disadvantaged students attending college in Wisconsin. About 4,300 students a year qualify.

Applicants must be poor and a non-traditional student. To be a non-traditional student, the applicant must meet one of several criteria including being in prison, a first generation college attendee or black, Indian, Hispanic or Hmong.

The proposed amendment removed being a minority as one of the qualifiers for the grants.

Its introduction set off a wave of opposition from Democrats who said it was indicative of a larger Republican agenda to attack minority rights and affirmative action. State Sen. Glenn Grothman, a Republican who has historically opposed affirmative action programs, was on the floor talking with GOP Assembly members during the debate...............

6. Love that the dino was meeting with the sleziest of the republicons just before this happened

According to Hulsey, Krusick and Grothman spent Tuesday night on their collaboration.

"I saw Senator Grothman sort of working with Peggy. I should have known something was up. That was at 10:00 last night, and then all hell broke loose around 11:00 when she introduced this."

Way to stay classy, Rep. Peggy Krusick.

7. I just wonder what the "slob" Grothmann and Repups offered
her to put this amendment in.

It came like a bomb out of nowhere. I was watching last evening.

Walker and his Repugs love to drop bombs:

..............Has he really learned anything over the last few months? Has he changed his tone, his approach, his spots, as they were all honestly disclosed in the David Koch prank call. Can you trust this guy?

"Came home from the Super Bowl...had all of my cabinet over...it was kind of the last hurrah before we dropped the bomb." (the bomb was to take away collective bargaining) {Scott Walker}

Here's some new evidence to ponder.
