Boehner Signals Revenue to Be Weighed in Congressional Debt Plan
Source: Bloomberg

Nov. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Republicans are willing to consider raising revenue as part of a debt-cutting plan under discussion by a congressional panel if Democrats agree to "real reform" of entitlements such as Medicare and Medicaid, said House Speaker John Boehner.

"There's room for revenue but there clearly is a limit to the revenues that may be available" to help reach the congressionally mandated target of cutting government deficits by at least $1.2 trillion, Boehner, an Ohio Republican, told reporters yesterday in Washington.

Republicans have refused to accept tax increases that Democrats insist must be enacted in exchange for cuts in entitlement programs such as Medicare, the health-care program for the elderly and disabled.

The 12-member supercommittee, composed of six Republicans and six Democrats, confronts the same political disagreement that has proven so difficult to resolve all year, he said.

Polls are now open: how long will it take for Boehner to backtrack?

1. F*c* o*f, Boehner! Just end the Bush/Obama tax cuts for the wealthy...
...and end the "wars for no reason."

And quit f*c*i*g with the people's Medicare and Social Security!

2. I am really sick and tired of all the games the republicans
play with the future of this country.

"There's room for revenue but there clearly is a limit to the revenues that may be available"
I know where there is a lot of revenue. Tax the wealthy and the very well paid.
AMT tax on corporations. Cut congressional pay and benefits.
This is just a start.
Take congressional pay and benefits out of the hands of congress.

5. As they say....
....that train has left the station. There was a time when weakend progressives would have caved in to demands for cuts in Medicare, but now the country has spoken loud and clear: "keep your hands off of Medicare."

There is no trade to cut Medicare, it is off the table.

7. The Chief conductor never took if off
He opened the door and now the Repigs are walking through it.
In fact Obama and his DLC staff are probably high-fiving each other thinking that Boehner is caving into their "suggestions", because to them any deal is better than no deal.

9. It's time to ignore the Republicans and
and shove our rights (99%) down their throat's. They've been steam rolling over the people's will for as long as I can remember, and it's payback time.

What's that Boner? Oh no thanks, and F3ck you very much.

12. We are trading away something worth a hell of a lot more than the tax increases.
It's not a fair trade. We didn't get anything when the taxes were cut on the top 1% why should we give something now?

Screw this bipartisan shit!
