Vancouver seeks injunction to dismantle Occupy site

A showdown between Occupy Vancouver protesters and city hall could come as early as Tuesday afternoon as city lawyers were scheduled to be back in court again at 2 p.m. PT to ask for an injunction to remove the tent city.

Penny Ballem, Vancouver's city manager, said that lawyers were also in court Monday and were able to fast-track their application for an injunction to close down the 25-day-old camp on the square on the north side of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

"We would like the court to give us an injunction to give us the full authority to actually take action," Ballem said.

"The injunction gives us further authority to help them remove their belongings if they're not willing to do it themselves."

1. If The "occupiers" are citizens of Vancouver, and pay
city taxes how can the city remove them? The streets belong to them. Without taxes there would be no streets.
