NBA Talks Continue With Stern's Deadline on Hold
Source: AP-Excite

By BRIAN MAHONEY

NEW YORK (AP) - NBA owners and players are meeting again Thursday, hoping to reach a deal to end the lockout and very aware of the consequences if they fail.

The two sides met for more than nine hours, working to try to find a way to save the season.

Union executive committee member Roger Mason Jr. of the New York Knicks provided a little insight into the talks through Twitter. In response to fellow player T.J. Ford's question about whether the lockout was over yet, wrote: "No bro. Still a ways away."

This latest bargaining session came after players and owners met for 12 hours Wednesday, passing Commissioner David Stern's deadline for players to accept the league's current proposal or face one that would be much worse. He said he "stopped the clock" while this round of negotiations continues but warned the harsher proposal will be put into play if talks break down.

1. Please just cancel the season...
I'm sure there are people who still care. I do not. A large chunk of my money in the winter comes from basketball players who come to Milwaukee. Right now I just really don't care if you come back at all.

2. I'm a big NBA fan.
But I have to admit, I haven't missed it at all.

Too many like me might be bad news for owners and players.

7. Who Cares?
Rich owners fighting with overpaid players. The world will not end if the NBA goes away. In fact, it might be a better place. As we've seen with the Penn State scandal the owners (administrators), coaching staff and players all cover for one another no matter what despicable behavior is involved.

Just get rid of them all and put the money towards the homeless and the unemployed. Do something productive with it.

8. The NBA Owners and Players Disgust me
Edited on Fri Nov-11-11 02:56 AM by dballance
You want more money and better conditions.

Well you players and owners are disgusting self-absorbed pigs.

You don't walk along the roads of a middle eastern nation and step on land mines.

You don't drive along the roads of a middle eastern nation and get blown up by an IED.

You don't spend time sweating through all your clothes and drinking tainted water supplied by a crony corporation that pays off the government.

No, you dribble a ball up and down the court and put it through ring with a net. Tell me how that helps the poor in the US or the people in Iraq or Afghanistan.

You are all a bunch of self-absorbed assholes. Go back to your McMansions and cry for yourself. I certainly won't.
