Afghan women chose fiery death rather than
continued abuse by their husbands. Well, someone is lying to us. Bush constantly talks about how things are so much better for women in Afghanistan and Iraq. Obviously it is not. Also, Hamid Karzi appears to be turning his head as far as the women are concerned as his Governor is making the laws for the women. Karzi should be brought up in front of the UN and questioned about these reports. It'll never happen. Women are still nothing to these people. It's sickening.

Reuters article.

6. Sorry about the link. I'll catch on to this stuff eventually.
I do not understand who this "Governor" is. I did a Google search and over 10,000 sites came up. Here is one that not only tells a lot about all the so-called leaders in Afghanistan.

Also, some other things that (in my opinion) appear interesting.

5. Karzai as President of Afghanistan relys on the support and loyalty of
Dyn Corp, who are there for the opium as well as protecting the President of Afghanistan.

Dyn Corp criminals have the contract to train Iraqi police too-hot dogs, cowboys and fascists or worse imho.

7. They want the drugs over hear (oh my it's a conspiracy - yada . . . )
No really. I remember when we first attacked the rocks in Afghanistan. They were talking about the poppy fields and that it was the highest paying crop for them to grow which is about like $200 American Dollars. Well, everyone said, pay them $400 to grow food for their people and stop the poppy growing. You know what our government said . . . now this is not a quote, it's just something I remember. Our Government stated that they would prefer to capture the traffickers when the drugs start coming into the U.S.

I found this quite puzzling myself. I'll look to see if I can find a link that explains it better. However, I remember this being on the news and thinking, "How stupid do they think the people of this Country are?"

9. There is nothing anyone can do to change their culture overnight;
that's going to take some time. At least women are not forced to wear burqas by the government and are allowed to hold jobs, go to school, etc. Over time we can only hope that these freedoms will seep into the culture, which is ancient and very ingrained, particularly in the more remote areas of the country.

12. The process to gain civil rights is a long one.
Look at how long after the 14th Amendment was passed that the civil rights movement in the US got going...

It's going to be a long haul, but at least some steps have been taken.
