Police in Denver Move on Protesters
Source: NYT

The Denver police cleared a protest encampment allied with the Occupy Wall Street movement in a downtown square Saturday evening. Sixteen people were arrested, according to the police.

“We warned the individuals about blocking right of way and setting up tents,” said a police spokesman, Sonny Jackson. “We asked them to take some of the items down, and they refused.”

The police arrived at Civic Center Park early Saturday evening and began dismantling the camp.

“We asked them to step back, and collected anything that was left behind,” Mr. Jackson said.

2. i hear den RW radio and it is used 24/7 to intimidate and egg on and excuse action by gov and police

and it's the same everywhere.

that same main limbaugh megsstation (850 KOA) that puts gov hickenlooper on the with local ayn randian wet dreamer mike rosen and has a number of affiliated RW blowhard stations can put huge pressure on local gov and police, and do. all the local RW shits do it, piling on after and beefore the limbaughs and hannitys attack the protestors, lie about them, and distort the aims. all day long.

and sadly, that main limbaugh station gets huge community credibility by broadcasting university of colorado football.

CU's mission statement would require CU to dissociate themselves from KOA and limbaugh regarding his racism misogyny and global warming denial (all RW radio stations are dedicated to GW denial) and if CU students and faculty and community got that done it would be a major setback for the RW in co.

it should be a goal of all universities in the country to dissociate their institutions of higher learning from the limbaugh/rove/teaparty bullshit- many U sports teams broadcast on and endorse RW radio- the GOP's best weapon.

4. worst of all, KOA dubs itself as "newsradio"
and is the reason why the progressive WCPT in Chicago has to be a daytimer

5. I was at the Denver Center
for the Performing Arts during The Lion King last night. Occupiers crossed 14th street at Curtis and began to march on the long open ended walkway by the Opera house when the police basically kettled them on the walkway. I was inside the theater listening to the racket outside when cops in riot gear flooded the area in front of me. It made for a few tense moments as I was worried they were going to use tear gas or mace which they had at the ready and the place was full of children. I never realized how big their nightsticks were either. Those things had to be about four feet long! They could really mess a person up.
Fortunately the crowd was dispersed without incident and the cops jumped on their urban assault vehicles and drove off. The cop to protester ratio was about 1 to 1, maybe more as I could only see what was going on at one end. You should have seen the faces of the diners at the restaurant across the way. They were completely freaked out by the cops walking around in their riot gear. I saw one of the cops give them a little wave. There were lots of people taking pictures and I saw someone with a very professional looking camera filming from above on a stairway.
