Cops raiding Occupy Oakland for second time
Source: SFGate

(11-14) 07:12 PST OAKLAND --

Oakland police have arrested about 25 protesters at the sprawling Occupy Oakland encampment outside City Hall while hundreds of law-enforcement officers square off against demonstrators in the second such raid of the downtown tent city.

Law-enforcement officers from numerous Bay Area agencies began arriving in force at 5 a.m. as a police helicopter flew overhead. Clad in armor and riot helmets, they stood in lines and surrounded the camp near the corner of 14th Street and Broadway adjacent to Frank Ogawa Plaza, where dozens of demonstrators have been camping to protest economic inequity and corporate greed.

About 6 a.m., police began arresting protesters at an "interfaith tent" on the plaza, 40 minutes after police issued an order to disperse. The protesters sang "We Shall Overcome" as they were handcuffed.

3. As soon as this was known, Berkeley and SF
should have issued a call for everybody out in the streets in THEIR cities. Make the cops REGRET going over to Oakland to "help out" and make it a losing strategy for the cops to do this.

4. I *guess* they have nothing better to do than enforce criminal laws
instead of breaking laws to break up their Constitutional rights to a peaceful assembly.

8. Mayor Quan's legal adviser just quit in protest
Edited on Mon Nov-14-11 02:11 PM by FunMe
Dan Siegel: No longer Mayor Quan's legal advisor. Resigned at 2 am. Support Occupy Oakland, not the 1% and its government facilitators.

Meanwhile, they spent $500,000 for this. Wow, how stupid can they get. The movement there is only going to get bigger.
