An Occupy Omaha demonstrator is asking the federal court to stop local authorities from dictating where and when the group can protest.
James Dean Foley, 46, filed the request for an injunction Monday on behalf of the demonstrators. The court filing names Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle, Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning and Omaha Police Chief Alex Hayes as defendants.
Occupy Omaha is part of a national protest challenging corporate power and income inequality. Three local demonstrators were arrested this month after they refused police orders to leave a city lot near 24th and Farnam Streets near the Federal Reserve building.
The injunction seeks to prevent officials from "enforcing new rules and existing rules that are clearly unconstitutional."
