GOP lawmakers again call for Holder to resign

Ten conservative House Republicans renewed their demand Tuesday for Attorney General Eric Holder to step down for his handling of the fallout from a flawed gun sting operation known as Fast and Furious.

"Attorney General Holder's refusal to take responsibility for the actions of his department is inexcusable," declared Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Arizona.

"It is clear that he is either lying or grossly incompetent. Either way he is unfit to serve the American people as the highest law enforcement officer in the land," said Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho.

No Democrat participated in the news conference and none has asked for Holder to quit.

2. Maybe McCrystal would accept the job. We haven't had such great
luck with Attorneys - let's try a General. His nom du guerre could be "AG Bite Me."

3. "I don't recall"
Perhaps Holder should use the Gonzales defense: "I don't recall." Doesn't matter what the accusation or question is. Just "I don't recall."

I'm not defending Holder. I personally think his actions have been misguided; going after stupid things like medical marijuana and completely ignoring the Bush administration or the banksters or BP and so on. But, the GOP has no right to criticize any present and future admin's AG after that fiasco called Alberto Gonzales was appointed the chief law enforcer.

5. House Republicans *demand*?? Ahahahahaha!
Less time focusing on that black man a black President chose to be our AG, and more time focusing on passing a REAL jobs bill. You know? Taht thing they promised in order to get elected?

Those fucking Republicans are hilarious clowns.

6. I'm not fan of Holder but
But what about the 2.3 Trillion dollars Rumsfailed "misplaced". Or that illegal war that they all approved. The Repukes weren't looking for any heads to roll over that. And ALL of the Repukes are unfit to run a 7-11. Fuck them.

42 members of Congress now calling for Eric Holder’s resignation

“Today, I stand with over 40 other Members of the United States Congress in calling for the resignation of United States Attorney General Eric Holder,” Buerkle said in prepared remarks. “He has failed to uphold the duties of the office of United States Attorney General and has lost public confidence.”

“The botched Operation Fast and Furious has harmed U.S. and Mexico cross-border relations,” Buerkle continued. “The administration’s failure to coordinate its efforts in combating weapons trafficking has been a glaring omission in one of our country’s greatest national security interests. It is likely to lead to a rift in the bilateral relationship with one of our closest trading partners.”

Pearce points to Holder’s May 3 testimony before the House Judiciary Committee, which he said was “contradicting.”

“Attorney General Eric Holder was not forthright in his previous testimony before Congress, and continues to raise far more questions than he answers,” Pearce said in his statement. “He provided contradicting statements on what he knew and when he knew it, regarding ‘Operation Fast and Furious.’ This is not what the American people deserve. Government officials should be held accountable for their actions, and must show respect for the people as well as their position. Mr. Holder’s actions are unacceptable, and he should resign.”

10. Okay, fine. Let's get an AG who will investigate war crimes
and other misdeeds of the last administration. I think Holder is toast. Obama does not stand by people if Republicans make a big enough stink. I bet we'll see Holder resign within a few weeks.

13. Its rather ironic in a way
If they got their way on this one, theres at least a theoretical chance that his replacement would be someone who might actually investigate a number of things they would find really really uncomfortable. War Crimes. Financial crimes. etc. If that were to happen, I would really, literally ROTFLOL

17. Something like this makes me want to stick up for Holder.
On the other hand, not investigating Bush, exonerating all who followed legal advice and then also exonerating Yoo and Bybee make me want to vomit.
