Teacher Masturbated in Class: Police
Source: NBC Chicago

A teacher at a northwest suburban Christian school has been charged with with sexual exploitation of a child for allegedly masturbating during class, a practice authorities believe may have happened several times in the last decade.

Paul A. LaDuke, 75, of the 1000 block of Court-H in Hanover Park, was charged Tuesday for an incident last Friday at Schaumburg Christian School, at 200 N. Roselle Rd. in Schaumburg, where he is a teacher.

A student reported to a teacher they saw LaDuke masturbating while seated at his podium, police said.

The teacher notified the school administration, which initiated an internal investigation that resulted in Laduke’s termination on Friday afternoon, a release said. School officials then contacted Schaumburg police on Monday.

3. At a Christian School to boot? for TEN years? You can't make this shit up.
It looks like the kid wasn't mistaken, either--he wasn't scratching his gonads or adjusting himself, apparently:

Police interviewed several who said that on Friday, while seated behind his podium, LaDuke unzipped and lowered his pants, then and masturbated while students were present in the classroom.

Good grief.

you can actually look & appear reasonably intelligent but you just seem to be doing this strange, off the wall, shitty things (that's what happened w. my grandmother, i had terrible feelings about her for many years until she was actually dx'd and i realized that she must have been slipping into it bit by bit and that's why the oddities)

this guy might actually be on trial and convicted and in prison before the disease progresses enough to be sure, it really does start with tiny episodes of stuff that's truly out of character

sad what time does to people and younger people do not, cannot understand because the older person "seems" ok...

20. Why are you getting tired of it? Seems to me that it's newsworthy.
And lots of other stories appear on DU about people doing newsworthy things. You're troubled because this story was posted? I'm troubled about a teacher doing that in the classroom with students present. That doesn't bother you? This is not a condemnation of teachers. It is a story about one teacher who did something immoral and illegal. It's, well, news.

22. It's sensationalist news, at best. Of the literally millions of Americans who
perform well in a teaching career, singling out aged, perhaps mentally impaired by age, aberrant behaviors of a handful of people in the profession does no public service.

The situation was, I'm sure you will agree, wrong, and it was handled with a termination within days. Not at all worthy of national attention, given the deluge of more relevant information out there bombarding us from the news media.

It was handled properly, unlike the really "newsworthy" issue at Penn State, which, obviously, was NOT handled properly, and that is what makes the Penn State situation worthy of national attention.

50. And you're self righteous. Never met a person who had a stroke and had problems making decisions?
Tell me who said, "judge not lest ye be judged".
Whatever is going on with this person, they have problems.
When someone who has gotten along fine in life suddenly changes behavior when they get elderly, it's not unreasonable to look for a medical reason.
But I guess you would think that gullible too.

31. how is that being "ageist"
I was simply pointing out a fact...

Homo sapiens have determined life expectancy, and this sick fucker is near the end of it.

And FYI, the term ageist isn't reserved only for people above sixty. You can be ageist against babies, children, or even just 16 year old drivers :)

33. If he's still masturbating at 75
he probably has a longer life expectancy than the typical 75 year old.

Even the average 75-yr-old man in the US can expect to live about 11 more years.

43. Well, only up to a certain point. :)
Infants and adolescent/young males have a higher death rate than the rest of the population (because of disease in the first case, dangerous habits in the second). So a male who survives those two dangerous periods has a better life expectancy than a newborn male.

A lot of men die in their 50s and 60s because of longterm bad health habits. A man who makes it to 75 has, at least statistically, made it through that dangerous period of life, as well.

25. the now legendary weird creepy pedophile teacher...
10 year from now, kids that had him for a teacher will only remember this weirdo as the teacher that tossed off during class.

I've had teachers that drank, teachers that hit kids, teachers that had sex in the teachers lounge, but never had I had a teacher toss off during class (at least to my knowledge).

30. some of my friends had a teacher who cut her wrists in class, horrible
mental illness is terrible esp. when it causes a person to do something they would not normally do

this teacher was younger and was hospitalized but i doubt she ever worked again, so i have to believe her life was ruined unless she was able to marry well

it's scary when our minds betray us, i'm surprised at the lack of compassion of some people on this thread, they will be 75 and maybe not so sharp one day themselves

28. Reminds me of a time when I was an elementary sub teacher
I caught a stomach virus at school one day, and had been on antibiotics for a few days...Next week the virus was gone, but I had an allergic reaction that resulted in a world class case of uncontrollable jock itch--I had to do a LOT of fidgeting and scratching through my pockets under the desk while the kids were working...Mercifully, lunchtime eventually came and while the class was out I closed the blinds, turned out the lights and did nothing but furiously scratch myself for 20-25 mins...Only in the last minute did I freeze in horror with the thought of how much jail time I could be hammered with if someone walked in on me or if the classroom was fitted with a security camera (my heart started beating again only when I looked around and couldn't find a camera)...

Luckily, I was in the clear, so I labored to finish the day, and stayed away from school for the full 10 days it took for the itch to heal (it of course flared up repeatedly while working my other two part-time jobs but that is another story)

Self-suppression will make you act out in undesirable ways. This is why Republicans have 10X (and probably more) the sex scandals that Dems do. And when they do, it's stuff like Vitter's diaper fetish. At least Wiener just showed his wiener.

52. these types of incidents are fairly rare, considering the thousands of schools
and teachers. I've taught for 20 years. So far, I've personally known one teacher who came to class buzzed on booze (he's since sought help); another man landed a punch on a teenage boy; another man was too friendly with one of his 6th gr. charges (a girl) with an unsubstantiated report she sat on his lap. So while the off-kilter teachers are out there, if this is all I've known in 20 yrs., it's not really a large percentage of teachers.

I've heard of just a few others who did things, but did not personally know them.
