Lauren Pierce, President Of College Republicans At Texas University: Obama Assassination 'Tempting'
Source: Huffington Post

Lauren Pierce, the president of the College Republicans at UT Austin, said on Twitter Wednesday that the idea of assassinating President Barack Obama was "tempting."

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Pierce posted, "Y'all as tempting as it may be, don't shoot Obama. We need him to go down in history as the WORST president we've EVER had! #2012."

The tweet came hours after police arrested a man for firing shots at the White House, leaving two bullets in the executive mansion. . .

Congrats on that wonderful "Young Rethuglican" heading up the dittoheads at UT Austin. She's on the left. Ironically.

I still think Huffington Post should be disallowed as a valid LBN source. It's nothing more than a sensationalistic tabloid.

There are REAL nuts out there reading it. The anger Repukes have for Obama is just unprecedented and awful. Some of it has to be racist hate, IMO.

16. It's in very bad taste to express positive views on killing a democratically elected leader,
especially the one of your own country. It falls under hate speech, and while not against US law, it's can lead to tragic consequences. Look at the assassination of Israel's PM Rabin in 1995 as a warning example.

22. Here's what is more worrying
That this person is elevated to the position of President of the College Republicans at her University.

Lauren Pierce (and I include the name because I bet she googles herself) is how old? Early 20s maybe? She has involved herself in politics but seems determined to display youthful foolishness in public for all to see. Is this the future leadership of the Republican Party?

27. I would like to believe that future employers, canetoad...
...will view this as evidence of poor moral character and bad judgment on Lauren Pierce's part. But nowadays some people make very tidy sums being hatemongers.

Anyway, I post the following without comment:

Lauren Pierce
@laurenepierce Austin, TX
UT student, proud Zionist, President of UT College Republicans (@texascr) and intern for @TexasAFP & @TeamDewhurst. Staunch believer in American Exceptionalism

Apparently tweets are loading slowly. Such a surprise. :eyes:

34. She's only a "Zionist" because she's most likely a proud
Dispensationalist who believes that Israel belonging to the Jews is a necessary precondition to the Rapture (at which point all Jews but 144,000 will be killed and the remainder can convert to Xianity or also be killed. With friends like these, Israel doesn't need any enemies.

Young Lauren Pierce seems to have the world on a string and the key to sucess at her fingertips; and every other fucking ill-considered, self-aggrandizing cliche that a young, republican, zionist, exceptionalist could have.

I hope her career success exceeds or at least, equates to, her wisdom.

26. I don't think they'll question her
She worded it to sound like she opposes it. If she left it at "tempting" she may or may not have gotten a visit. However, she went on to say don't do it. Still a supremely stupid thing to say, and she should resign.

25. I just thought of a proper way for the UT folks to handle this
They should tell her that she has two choices;

A) Explusion
B) Have her meet one-on-one with all the survivors of the Tucson shootings and the families of those who lost loved ones. Starting with the family of Christina Green. If she has even the tiniest sliver of human decency within her maybe she'll realize that these violence jokes aren't so fucking funny after all.

Someone above mentioned that at least Pierce said she was against violence...but she brought it up in her posting -- not exactly the spirit of peace or even of rational debate on the issues.

44. oh, I don't know
I'd say her man, little boots might be ahead of Obama. He's the one who actually got that ball rolling with his tax cuts while creating two wars, deregulation and creating homeland security when we actually had intelligence in place to stop an attack. He's the one while cutting taxes, especially for the rich and infamous, increased the deficit by approx. 82%. Oh, wait she must have been impressed with little boots accent, cowboy boots, hat and the pig farm.

43. Press release on their Facebook page
Texas College Republicans respond on Facebook:

TCR Press Release

AUSTIN, TX – This afternoon news broke regarding a tweet made by Texas College Republican’s Secretary Lauren Pierce that made light of what might have been an assassination attempt at the White House.

“We would like to assure all of our supporters that neither TCR, nor any of the affiliated chapters, condone the comments made by Ms. Pierce from her personal Twitter account. This issue will be handled with the utmost of care. TCR has always prided itself on being an organization of principle, strong leadership, and integrity; and it is unfortunate that Ms. Pierce’s comments have affected TCR in this manner.

TCR respects the sanctity of human life, and although we may disagree politically with President Obama, our organization respects President Obama and the position he holds as our Chief Executive and Commander-in-Chief. Our organization also realizes that calls for violence are the never the solution for any disagreement, political or otherwise.

TCR is now calling for the official resignation of Ms. Pierce from both her position as Secretary of the Texas College Republicans, and as the President of the University of Texas College Republicans.”

###

Texas College Republicans is the statewide federation of over 30 College Republicans chapters in Texas. A branch of the College Republican National Committee and auxiliary of the Republican Party of Texas, TCR works to grow the influence of the Republican Party on campuses, campaign for conservative candidates at all levels of government, and develop leaders for future party service
