Judge Throws Out Tyson Beef Case Verdict
Yahoo news says this is just over two hours old. I couldn't find it anywhere when I checked the forums but I may have missed it. Sorry if it's a dupe

By PHILLIP RAWLS, Associated Press Writer

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A federal judge threw out a jury's $1.28 billion verdict against the nation's largest beef packer, Tyson Fresh Meats Inc., ruling Friday that it did not illegally manipulate cattle prices.

U.S. Senior District Judge Lyle Strom said the cattlemen who sued the Arkansas-based company failed to produce evidence at trial to support the verdict "with respect to both liability and damages."

Strom granted a motion filed by Tyson, which had denied using its contracts with a select few ranchers to drive down cattle prices for other producers.

<snip>

In asking Strom to throw out the verdict, Tyson argued that the jury didn't follow the law closely enough. The company also suggested that the subject matter and applicable law may have been too complex for the jurors.

1. Dang left-wing activist judges, err
Ok, how do the right-wingers account for a judge dismissing a jury award of damages? Sounds like a dang right-wing, anti-accountablility judge to me. Impeach the judge. Just kidding. I am not for impeachment of most judges, just the 5 in the majority in Bush v. Gore.

2. Um.. was the OJ jury up to the law on murder with all the DNA stuff?
When did this become the standard I wonder?

This is precedent-setting stuff.

4. Notice the pattern
First the claim is "Liberal Media" when it is obvious the media took a hard right turn.

Now the claim is "activist judges" when it is again obvious judges are beginning to end up on the side of corporatists.

BushCo is good at this.
