1. UK Guardian: Saif al-Islam Gaddafi captured in Libya
Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the fugitive son of Libya's deceased former dictator, has been arrested in southern Libya, according to offcials from the country's new government.

Muammar Gaddafi's second and highest-profile son was captured along with several bodyguards by fighters near the town of Obari in the western mountain town of Zintandetained, in Libya's southern desert, said the interim justice minister and other officials.

Saif was said to be in good health, the justice minister added. He was captured with two aides trying to smuggle him out to neighboring Niger, militia commander Bashir al-Tayeleb added.

Last month, Saif told the international criminal court he is innocent of alleged crimes against humanity. The court, based in The Hague, is seeking his arrest on charges relating to Libya's civil war. The ICC charged Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam, and Libya's former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi with crimes against humanity for the bombing and shooting of civilian protesters in February.

2. That's the one that wooed a lot of westerners into thinking he was for humanitarian reforms...right?
He was a darling in London?

Then was filmed in Libya screaming for RIVERS of BLOOD! That guy?

8.  That's the guy but I thought he had already surrended to international
authorities as he was afraid of being captured by Libyans.

3. I think he'll be torn apart
before he makes it to the Hague. I hope he gets a fair trial.

4. The 'killed in crossfire' trope is a distinct possibility
A picture of him captured shows him more or less in one piece so far, apart from what looks like finger injuries (or he's eating marshmallows).

6. It looks like perhaps they cut the tips of his fingers
off. It would suck to be him right now.

7. Or trod on his fingers, crushed them in a door etc.
"There are reports that an angry mob tried to storm the plane on which Saif was taken to the western mountain town of Zintan".

9. Great, now the regime can be tried for it's deeds in a criminal court.
And then the finger-wagging prick can rot in prison for the remainder of his days.

(Yes, I have already tried and convicted him)

10. Reuters: Saif al-Islam tells Reuters he is fine after capture
Saif al-Islam tells Reuters he is fine after capture
ReutersReuters – 4 hrs ago

ZINTAN, Libya (Reuters) - Saif al-Islam Gaddafi told Reuters on Saturday that he was feeling fine after being captured by some of the fighters who overthrew his father and he said injuries to his right hand were suffered during a NATO air strike a month ago.

Asked by Reuters correspondent Marie-Louise Gumuchian on the plane which flew him to the town of Zintan if he was feeling all right, Gaddafi said simply: "Yes."

Reluctant to speak at length, the London-educated 39-year-old son of Muammar Gaddafi was asked about bandages on the thumb and two fingers of his right hand. "Air force, air force," he said. Asked if that meant a NATO air strike, he said: "Yes.

"One month ago."

11. Moammar Gadhafi's son Seif al-Islam is captured
Source: MSNBC

ZINTAN, Libya — Moammar Gadhafi's son Seif al-Islam, once heir apparent to the late Libyan ruler, has been captured in the Libyan desert by fighters who vow to hold him in the mountain town of Zintan until there is a government to hand him over to.

Crowds across the country fired guns and hooted car horns Saturday to celebrate the seizure of the British-educated 39-year-old, who a year ago appeared a possible successor to rule the oil-producing desert state.

Hundreds of people crowded round the plane carrying him after it landed in Zintan, trapping him inside and raising fears he might suffer a similar fate to his father, who was beaten and shot after his capture a month ago on Sunday.

Seif al-Islam was later taken away uninjured and Prime Minister-designate Abdurrahim El-Keib promised that Gadhafi's son would face a fair trial.

18. Heh, his arrest was reported so many times, it was amazing. Glad this one is the one...
...we've been waiting for.

No chance of a resurgence now (not that Saif had the stomach to start a milita and build an attacking army).
