Herman Cain: I was relieved when I found out my cancer physician -- Dr. Abdallah -- was a Christian
Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 10:52 AM by RamboLiberal
Source: NY Daily News

Herman Cain prefers a God-fearing doctor... apparently, so long as that God is not called Allah.

The Republican presidential candidate -- who has come under the microscope for remarks about Muslims before -- shared a story with a crowd at a Christian-themed amusement park about a time several years ago when he was being treated for colon cancer.

One physician was named Dr. Abdallah, which he thought "sounded too foreign."

-----

“’Oh Lebanon!’” Cain said. “My mind immediately started thinking, wait a minute, maybe his religious persuasion is different than mine. She could see the look on my face and she said, 'Don't worry, Mr. Cain, he's a Christian from Lebanon.’"

1. It's too bad this wacko's little boomlet
is over, I would have loved to see him actually pull off the nomination. It would have infuriated him because he'd have to quit hawking his idiotic book.

2. He needs to take some diversity training
While corporations send their employees to diversity training, the Executives will retain this type of attitude and whats worse, support the like of Cain in a run for the White House or any other elected office.

There is, however, a robot John Wycliffe.

It is as Christian-themed as you can get:

11. Same with me
I know my oncologist is from India, that he has a wife and two small children who are sometimes very noisy, but I don't know a thing about his religion and I don't care to know. He trusts me enough to give me his cell phone number. I trust him with my life. I love Dr. Nagajothi.

19. My G.P. in Indiana was a very religious man.
He wore a "dot" on his forehead to symbolize a third eye that looked toward God. He is Hindu, and the best G.P. I have ever had, also a great person. When I feared losing my health insurance, he promised to treat me for free. He spent a lot of time on "vacation," his idea of a vacation was to travel to places where people could not afford health care, and give it to them for free. Dr "Jag" Patel (I know there are many Dr.'s with that name) trusted that if president Obama were elected, we would get Universal health care. We were both disappointed. He was a very religious man (not Christian) who believed in helping the least among us.

My cardiologist was also Indian, I never asked him about his religion, his qualifications and affability were beyond reproach.

Cain shows his idiocy whenever he speaks. So did "W," I hope that some people have learned their lesson.

27. I've seen the entire first season and half of the second season
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_All_in_the_Family_episodes

Seems that episodes 4 and 5 (from season 1) seem to be like Cain's situation. 40-50 years ago Cain would've faced the same attitude from white Americans that Cain is now expressing towards Muslims. Sad what happens when we forget our history. It's like "wow, I didn't expect that CEO I was talking with on the phone to be black!"

Herman Caine didn't deserve him.

Edited to add-- Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention the pain specialist who saved me from a life of constant agony. He has dark skin and a foreign name. I have no idea what his religion is, or even what country he's from, but I love him so much that I still see him 4x/year, even though I moved over 1,000 miles away.

My Grandma has surgery to removed nearly half of her cancerous intestines. The surgery made the AMA journals. Her surgeon was an ASIAN (not Christian) doctor. NOBODY in the family questioned his RELIGION, and neither did the AMA.

39. All the GOP candidates have either foot-in-mouth disease or verbal diarrhea. WTH?
I guess the next step in their wannable celebrities campaigns is to tell us their favorite color, food and the kind of dog they like. Not to mention showing off their progeny to prove their dicks work. Give me a break...

OTOH, this dog whistle solidifies his support by islamophobes. The doctor's religion had nothing to do with the service he gave Cain. You know, doctors still have those pesky malpractice laws and big rates of insurance going against any wacko who would have hurt the big bad pizza man.

I hate to get mad at this guy, who seems to be willing to paint himself a victim of all kinds of things, but he's pretty offensive.

BTW, I still can't get mad at anyone whose nickname is Mittens. It's the subconscious connection to kittens.

I'm not mad at any of them, but they'd probably take me and the people I care about without blinking an eye. Sad state of affairs, this.
