Penn State Testimony Requested

Local judges have recused themselves from handling the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse case, and lawyers for two Penn State officials who were indicted for perjury have begun to raise questions about the background of the prosecution’s chief witness, himself a Penn State assistant coach.

New complaints have also been filed charging Sandusky, the former assistant to Joe Paterno, with recently abusing two additional children.

And so the pace of the case that has turned this college town upside down for weeks has lost little of its momentum.

On Tuesday, the lawyers for Tim Curley, the Penn State athletic director, and Gary Schultz, the senior vice president for finance and business at the university, sent a letter to the Pennsylvania attorney general’s office requesting a variety of material, including grand jury testimony of some of the key witnesses.
