$681m approved for rebuilding Iraq

THE US-led coalition has approved $US500 million ($681.38 million) in reconstruction spending for seven Iraqi cities.

The money would be drawn from the development fund for Iraq, which consisted of frozen Iraqi assets and from Iraqi oil revenues, Milton Ludington, a representative of the coalition's Program Management Office, said in Ramadi today.

He said $US35 million ($47.7 million) had been cleared immediately for reconstruction projects in the seven cities: Baghdad, Baquba, Fallujah, Mosul, Samarra, Ramadi and Tikrit.

and hire Iraqi's to rebuild. They built it once so I'm pretty sure they can build it again, and get rid of all the profiteering going on.

The American contractor said it would cost $15 Million, the Iraqis (who worked there and wanted their jobs back) received a grant and got the plant up and running for $80,000. Something like that.

5. exactly - give Iraqi professionals the funding to rebuild and hire their

own Iraqi crews. Would this take some guys off the "insurgent" list? I think so. Plus, the major companies (Haliburton, Seimens and others) are deserting the country - what better time to empower the Iraqis?

friends already took all the money out of that fund. Maybe if we stop breaking the country, we wouldn't have to rebuild it.

to get our Government to do the right thing? I haven't a clue because protesting does nothing. They know how we feel about it all. Protesting is a waste of time and monies (my opinion). I live in a small town where the majority is Republican and it sickens me. I cannot understand why people can still be behind this man and his policies.

I know where the weapons of mass destruction are . . . in the White House and in an undisclosed location.

Do you realize we still have a shadow government running. Why? How much is this costing us?

It is really overwhelming at times to me.

challenge the 'status quo' whenever it comes up, call in to talk shows let them hear the other side of the story.

educate the media... lets face it, they ain't up to date so to speak on a lOT of facts so email them some, be polite and compassionate as always, but make sure your voice gets heard even it is to just to the folks you meet in everyday life.

it's always worked in the past, and even though the neoCONs are ready to abadon history i sure ain't ;->
