India may lose Utah's outsourced jobs

WASHINGTON: A US company has said it is willing to bring a part of its outsourcing work for the Utah state government back from India, but only with a price.

eFunds allows its India centre to handle calls about the Utah Department of Workforce Services' electronic welfare benefit cards. It is in the second year of a five-year contract.

But John Nixon, the department's director of finance, said eFunds "is getting beat up at the national level as well" regarding outsourcing jobs and is willing to reopen the call centre part of the Utah contract.

However, moving the call centre work back to the US would cost Utah $63,000 more a year, he said.

Tell the appallingly unpatriotic eFunds this is their last government contract unless they rethink their ethics and, oh yes, could we please see the figures for base pay and bonuses for all company executives?

My tiniest suspicion is that the $63,000 could easily be made up by a reduction in executive compensation. So let's see those numbers.
